Wow kudos to noddy. However my results were even MORE peculiar.
Since things are getting a bit more complex, let me simply use the following terms …
DEFAULT = With “Advance mode” unchecked Field selection set to default - Title, Artist, Album, Year and Comment are checked Then “Advance mode” checked and any template containing anything fields from the group of - Length, Bitrate, Sam. Freq. or Ch. Mode. NODNON <noddy phenomenon> = With “Advance mode” unchecked Field selection set to - Title, Artist, Album, Year, Comment AND one or more from the group Length, Bitrate, Sam. Freq. or Ch. Mode are checked Then “Advance mode” checked and any template containing anything fields from the group of - Length, Bitrate, Sam. Freq. or Ch. Mode.
When a DEFAULT list is created and the directory contains many files of many types, the created list correctly includes only MP3 files from the directory, except the any of the fields from the group (Length, Bitrate, Sam. Freq. or Ch. Mode) are blank.
However …
When a NODNON list is created and the directory contains many files of many types, the created list incorrectly includes all files in the directory, however fields from the group (Length, Bitrate, Sam. Freq. or Ch. Mode) are correctly reported for MP3 files. Of course all the template fields reported for non-MP3 files are invalid, errors or blank.
The “Errors and warning” pop-up dialog seems to report the same information for either list creation (File <filename> did not contain an ID3 tag.). However the “Status:” area at the bottom of the main window adds an additional line of information during the NODNON creation of an invalid file entry (Added chosen field(s) from file <filename> to list). But obviously a non-MP3 file contains NO chosen fields.
Don’t know if this is a blessing or a curse. In either case, hope this info helps?!
