Topic: Remove "APEv2" or "lyrics" from mp3 files?, Is there any software that does this?< Next Oldest | Next Newest >

If I browse my files with mp3tag I can see that some mp3 files have "APEv2" or "lyrics..." in the Tag field, is there any way I can remove this without deleting anything from the id3 tag?
With MTS or other software :)

More exactly what do you mean by "seeing APEv2 in the Tag field"? Does Mp3/Tag Studio report this?

Either way, Mp3/Tag Studio does not support any other kind of tags than ID3v1 and ID3v2, but there are other programs that can remove these kinds of tags, even though I sadly don't know any of their names off the top of my head, sorry about that.

Pokisoft's Tag & Rename can remove APE tags (or at least set them to blank), but it would be odd to see these types of tags in an MP3 file.

In all fairness to Magnus, Tag & Rename is arguably not as good a program as MP3/Tag Studio. But it does offer the ability to tag most lossless formats, including APE, ALAC, Ogg, Windows Media, and a half-dozen others, on top of MP3's.

A google search for your problem revealed there are instances of "double tagging," where both types of tags were jammed into the file headers, so it is apparently a real problem.

ID3v2 tags exist independently of other possible tag formats, so the existence of both tag formats at the same time would indeed be the expected result if someone has put another tag type in an mp3 file.
