If you're using Fibernet you don't need a modem, cause the signal you receiving is from a switch before that switch the ISP itself installed modem (which does modulation and demodulation) so you don't need a modem in your end. If you want to access internet for multiple devices you need an router. If you're going to use it for only one desktop you don't even need a router cause it comes with an RJ45 cable which can be directly connected to Ethernet port.
