Magnus your program is amazing. I have reccommended it to many many people and I hope they took advantage of that. Otherwise they are seriously missing out!

Anyways, it would be incredibly cool to mass set tags (for me it's pre/post pending the comments tag) from a playlist. I'm bouncing back and forth between winamp and itunes and have decided that the way to handle smart playlists is to put everything in the comments field. So I want to be able to take my current 5 star playlist and post-append rating=5; to the comments field of that playlist.

Possible? Already doable and I can't figure it out?

Thanks again for your brilliant work.

Sure, simply use the "Tag/rename from list" tool to put some kind of marker on each file in the list, e.g. a special value in some tag field. If you cannot find any unused field that can be filtered later, store the field of choice in a new list (by using the "Create custom lists" tool), and you can easily restore it as the last step of the operation.

Then run the mass set tool on all your files, and filter out only the files having this marker (using the filter option in Mp3/Tag Studio).

Finally, restore the marker tag field to its original value, by using the list you created in step one.

You can also record this all into a macro, to be able to do it all with the click of a single button from then on.

PS. Thanks for recommending Mp3/Tag Studio to other people. :)

Perfectly good  approach. The one thing I can't figure out is how to get a file the Mp3 Tag Studio can read. I can only export m3u and pls from Winamp and those are both multiple row/item files. Any thoughts? Thanks again!

Mp3/Tag Studio has no problem parsing multi-row format files, simply use the [NEWLINE] operator in the template (right-click the template editbox in advanced mode to get a handy list of all available field types that can be used).
