I would like opinions as to the real utility of having both v1 and v2 tags in my MP3 files. I suppose if I had a portable to synch up with, and it only understood v1 tags, then I might need both. But since I don't, and my player of choice (Media Jukebox) has no problem with v2 tags, is there any compelling reason not to strip v1 tags from my files?

Besides compatibility issues with players and other kinds of software/hardware, there are no advantages of ID3v1 tags over ID3v2 tags, no.

But since maybe you will sometime in the future play the files in some other player, or maybe some friend of yours will play them in their player, it might be good to keep them anyway.

Since Mp3/Tag Studio automatically syncs the ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags, and since ID3v1 tags always just take up 128 bytes of space in the file, I see no real reason to remove them or set up Mp3/Tag Studio not to write them either.

PS. Congrats to your upgrade to a 2-star "Board Buff" Disposable Hero. ;)
