+---Topic: Copying a Tag? started by Drooling Dog

I'm using MP3 Tag Studio 3. I'd like to copy (not move) the data in the "Composer" field to the "Comments" field.  Is this possible?  If so, how do I do it?  I'm going to run it on over 10,000 files, and don't want to screw it up.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that copy and not move is the default process for the Direct Tag Manipulation tool. For your operation, you should be able to do this by:

check the Advanced Mode checkbox in Direct Tag Manipulation.

Pull the slider bar all the way up, so that only the top 2 fields are selectable.

Use the dropdown on the right-side field to select <Comment>

Select all of or clear the text in the left-side field. Right click in that field, go to the Advanced V2 Fields option, select <V2_TCOM> Composer from the flyout menu.

Then do your thing.

For your safety:
Make some copies of files intended for modification and move them to a different directory. Use those for testing.
Make sure that Preview Mode is checked if you want to see what will happen to the files as a result of the operation.

This is another of those things that take a lot longer to explain than to do  :p
