But since that service pack is still a "beta" (or at least "non-final") version I guess it can contain bugs that make this happen. I think you should report this problem to Microsoft, I'm sure they will appreciate it. Until that service pack is released in a final version, I cannot investigate it further myself anyway. Please keep us posted if you find out what the problem is. Posted by: c4rD1g4n on Mar. 30 2004,19:52 yes....VERY strange i have deinstalled the servicepack straight evenly and mp3ts works again! ![]() i´m interested for the final ![]() but....thanks for your answer Posted by: Magnus Brading on Mar. 30 2004,20:53 A wild guess would be that it has something to do with the new writable memory execution protection technology that Microsoft has put into this service pack, but in that case a LOT of programs will stop working due to this... Posted by: ladiko on April 04 2004,01:40 i have the same prob. i've made a slipstream win.xp.sp2rc1-cd and made 2 times a completly new installation of windows and mp3ts doesn't start. the second time i installed winxpsp2rc1, i only installed windows, via4in1 chipset-drivers, the omega driver for my ati radeon 9600 mobile and the third thing i've installed was mp3ts - and it doesn't starts - no error-message - nothing! and mp3ts always runs very good on win.xp and win.xp.sp1. and also it runs in combination with the named drivers! i could not imagine that the memory protection feature causes this, because it's not active on my pc and i can not activate it on my athlon.xp2600+ because the feature is only available on opteron, athlon64 and other(?) 64bit-processors. so i don't know what's the matter and i have to wait for the final sp2 and have to look if there will be a solution by ms or mb... i'm sorry, too for my english, but i think it could be understandable ![]() Posted by: Magnus Brading on April 04 2004,04:13 Ok, thanks for the info, we will wait and see. Posted by: Magnus Brading on April 05 2004,01:48 c4rD1g4n, what processor do you have? Posted by: ladiko on April 06 2004,14:57 @mb: why do want to know this? i don't think that it's a problem with the cpu. after the first installation of sp2rc1 the only worse thing that i found, was that mp3ts not starts. because of the fact that i don't want to miss it i re-installed windows with the slipstream-cd that already contains the sp2rc1 in the win-installation and only installed the 2 drivers and then mp3ts to see if something's goin wrong last time, but it also doesn't start. so i'm thinkin it's a problem between sp2rc1 and mp3ts, because without sp2 it works very good (see the post of c4rD1g4n). and i'm very sure that my cpu doesn't support the new memory protection feature of ms/cpu producers. but if you think it would be interesting to solve the problem, it's ok. immediately i've found a good and short news in english that explains what's the new sp2-feature: < klick me! > and i don't have a athlon64 or opteron - and also no itanium, i've one of the good 'old' athlon.xp - with no speacial feature that would be unlocked by sp2 and causes mp3ts to do such things. if i can help testing something or help other ways, mail me: ladiko //AT\\ web //DOT\\ de Posted by: Magnus Brading on April 06 2004,17:16 I'm asking this because I suspect it might have something to do with the third-party protection wrapper that is used by the program, and when I explained the situation to the author of this software he wanted to know about the processor type. Posted by: ladiko on April 06 2004,17:23 i don't know what's a "protection wrapper" but it sounds good. ![]() it's cool that you care about this prob, maybe because it could also exist in sp2final?!? ![]() Posted by: ladiko on April 06 2004,17:31 a little question: what do you think at the moment, when are you goin to release a new version of mp3ts? not because of this prob here, more generally? [exist the word generally?!? - i don't know] ![]() i'm lookin for this thread the next time, and maybe i'm writin a post ![]() Posted by: Magnus Brading on April 06 2004,17:51 Yes, I feel really bad about not releasing the half-ready copy of the next version that's lying here on my disk, and I will really try do to it soon, but work and private stuff has been so totally crazy lately, which makes it being postponed all the time. ![]() Posted by: ladiko on April 09 2004,22:44 i wish happy eastern and many free time for anything you like to do or let! ![]() Posted by: Dirk on April 09 2004,22:49 Just for your information: For me it also doesn't work after installing SP2 RC1. mp3ts.exe shows up in processes of task manager, but vanishes again. No entry in event log. I have a Pentium III 500MHz. And WinXP Pro German. Cheers, Dirk Posted by: Dirk on April 10 2004,10:04 And, BTW, SP2 is a release candidate and not beta anymore. ;-) Posted by: ladiko on April 13 2004,22:19 ---------------------QUOTE BEGIN------------------- ... But since that service pack is still a "beta" (or at least "non-final") version I guess it can contain bugs that make this happen. ... ---------------------QUOTE------------------- i think a rc is a very late version of a beta. the developer think it's stable, but not sure. if no errors occure - he will change the status to final or fix errors if occure - i think. Posted by: Magnus Brading on April 14 2004,01:08 Ok, can anyone having the XP SP2 problems please try the two test files attached to this post? The file "test_1.exe" will most likely not work on SP2, and the file "test_2.exe" will hopefully work on SP2. If this is the case, the problems have most likely been solved. Please report your results in this thread. Posted by: ladiko on April 15 2004,22:41 yes, it's like you've said: test_1 doesn't work/run, test_2 works. here's the output i've also mailed by that prog to you(?): OS: Windows XP Professional, SP2 CPU: AuthenticAMD, AMD mobile AMD Athlon XP-M 2600+, MMX @ 1990 MHz Error data: VmVyc2lvbjogDQpJbWFnZUJhc2U6IDAwNDAwMDAwDQpFaXA6IDANCkV heDogMA0KRWN4OiA3N0NBMERCQg0KRWR4OiAxDQpFYng6IDhDMzRFQw 0KRXNpOiA4QzEzRTQNCkVkaTogOEEwMDAwDQpFYnA6IDEyRkUzQw0KR XNwOiAxMkZERkMNCkVycm9yQ29kZTogDQoNCkNvZGUgPSBbMjAxXQ0K LSA0MDAwMDANCi0gMA0KLSAwDQotIFtdDQpEOlxEb3dubG9hZHNccG9 zdC0xLTk3NjkxLXRlc3RfZmlsZXNcdGVzdF8yLmV4ZQ0KQzpcV0lORE 9XU1xzeXN0ZW0zMlxudGRsbC5kbGwNCkM6XFdJTkRPV1Ncc3lzdGVtM zJca2VybmVsMzIuZGxsDQpDOlxXSU5ET1dTXHN5c3RlbTMyXHVzZXIz Mi5kbGwNCkM6XFdJTkRPV1Ncc3lzdGVtMzJcR0RJMzIuZGxsDQpDOlx XSU5ET1dTXHN5c3RlbTMyXGFkdmFwaTMyLmRsbA0KQzpcV0lORE9XU1 xzeXN0ZW0zMlxSUENSVDQuZGxsDQpDOlxXSU5ET1dTXHN5c3RlbTMyX G9sZWF1dDMyLmRsbA0KQzpcV0lORE9XU1xzeXN0ZW0zMlxtc3ZjcnQu ZGxsDQpDOlxXSU5ET1dTXHN5c3RlbTMyXG9sZTMyLmRsbA0KQzpcV0l ORE9XU1xzeXN0ZW0zMlx2ZXJzaW9uLmRsbA0KQzpcV0lORE9XU1xzeX N0ZW0zMlx3c29jazMyLmRsbA0KQzpcV0lORE9XU1xzeXN0ZW0zMlxXU zJfMzIuZGxsDQpDOlxXSU5ET1dTXHN5c3RlbTMyXFdTMkhFTFAuZGxs DQpDOlxXSU5ET1dTXHN5c3RlbTMyXHV4dGhlbWUuZGxsDQpDOlxXSU5 ET1dTXFdpblN4U1x4ODZfTWljcm9zb2Z0LldpbmRvd3MuQ29tbW9uLU NvbnRyb2xzXzY1OTViNjQxNDRjY2YxZGZfNi4wLjI2MDAuMjA5Nl94L Xd3X2E3ZDIxMGJkXGNvbWN0bDMyLmRsbA0KQzpcV0lORE9XU1xzeXN0 ZW0zMlxTSExXQVBJLmRsbA== Posted by: Magnus Brading on April 15 2004,22:55 Thanks for the confirmation! Then the problem seems to be solved! It was in the protection wrapper, just like I guessed, and the "test_2" file is processed with a bug-fixed version of that protection wrapper, which I will be using on the next release of Mp3/Tag Studio. Posted by: ladiko on April 19 2004,09:31 when will it be released? Posted by: Magnus Brading on April 19 2004,15:12 The eternal question... ![]() Please have faith. ![]() end |
