I'm using mp3 Tag Studio already for several years and I still think it's the best tool you can find!

I use it on several machines, but currently I'm working on a machine where I don't have admin rights. This gives issues with the installation and the register keys / licence.

Is there a version or a possibility to make a "portable" version of the tag studio? It would help me a lot!

Thanks and keep up the good work!

The registry keys used by Mp3/Tag Studio should not require admin permissions to read of write.

Neither should any license related mechanisms require admin permissions (no more info will be given about those though, for natural reasons).

Thank you for your fast reply!

My idea was also that it should be possible to read or write the registery keys, but it seems that I can't.

1. First I get an error because I cannot write the msi file on my C-disc, but I can bypass this by selecting another location for the msi

2. secondly I get an error by writing the register key because it seems that I need admin rights

3. If I ignore error 2 I can proceed the installation, but when I try to start the program I get an error that I need to use admin rights to set up my licence

All errors are attached. Is there any possibility to have a workaround?

Thank you in advance for your reply!

It is actually quite natural to be unable to install arbitrary programs when you don't have administrative rights on a computer, it's kinda "part of the deal" when being a low privileged user.

My tip would be this though:

Install Mp3/Tag Studio on a different computer where you have full rights, then copy all the files from the Mp3/Tag Studio installation folder on that machine to this other machine, and also export its registry data from its registry key under the software branch in the current user registry hive (under "Brading Software", and you can search if you don't find it manually). That should work relatively good I think, except that you possibly won't be able to use the shell extension, which requires admin rights to install I think (by design in Windows that is).

Hi PMH, when installing this program, make sure you're logged in as admin. That will surely give you access to most of the folders.

nikkil:

Is there some reason why you are posting many "replys" with no text?  Is this a function (or malfunction) of you browser?
