When I attempt to trim the START of a file I get the error message.

Access violation at address 00403D40 in module 'mp3tag_s.exe.' Read of address 0038C2D9

It does trim the file. The error message does not appear to affect the trimming.  Just adds another click.

When I see access violation I immediately think that several programs are trying to access the same file.  This is not the case, all other programs are closed.

Trimming the end of the file does no produce an error message.

About my computer; Windows XP corp, Pent 1000, mp3 player of choice, Winamp v2.81.

__

Another unrelated issue. When attempting to delete frames from the tag in advanced popup window, nothing happens.  I can "mass clean up tags" using "other fields", this does delete additional junk in frames.

Thank for a very nice program that I use every single day. :D

Hi Richard,

trimming issue:
Does this happen with all MP3's, or a specific file? FYI, when Magnus replies he will likely ask for an example file to analyze for you.

advanced popup:
If you're selecting the text in fields and then deleting/backspacing, are you clicking the "Write" button as the last step? When you say 'nothing happens' do you mean that the text in the tag fields remains, or that the v2 frames are not removed, or ?

Disposable Hero sure knows what I want. :)
(btw, aren't you supposed to be drunk in front of the tv right now Disposable Hero? ;)).

Richard, please send me one sample file for each of the problems, and I will analyze them. Also, please answer Disposable Hero's questions above.

The "trim the start" of a file error happens on all files.  I take it is not giving you an error message when you try to trim the start of a file?

I took a closer look at the delete frame issue. The files I was having problems with had multiple frames attached.  If the ID3v2 tag has only one frame attached it deletes it just fine from the Browse/Edit tags & flags tab/Advanced ID3v2 info popup.

>are you clicking the "Write" button as the last step?

yes :agree:

>do you mean that the v2 frames are not removed

yes :agree:

I am embarrassed to say I "fixed' all the problem files I had using the "mass clean up tags."  I'll get you a dysfunctional one.

Thanks for your help.

This trimming problem is very strange. A few users have reported it before, but I have never been able to reproduce it, and most other users never get this problem either. :( If you come up with any more info whatsoever about what might be causing it, please don't hesitate to report it here.

And about the frame-remove problem, exactly what do you mean when you say that the problem files have "multiple frames attached"? Is that multiple frames of the same type, or just more than one frame showing in the box at all? It would be great with a sample file if you can find one, thanks!

Trimming the Start of a file:

I recently updated from tag-studio v2.17 which trimmed the start of a file without an error message. So I figured maybe v3.01 on top of the older version was causing the problem.  So I eliminated evidence of both, rebooted and reinstalled.  Same problem. :disagree: See screenshot at address below. *shrug*

The multiple frame delete:

See screen shot and get the file below.  "Delete Current Frame" button does nothing.

Hope this helps

I have checked out the sample file, and the problem with the frame removal was that the tag was of version ID3v2.2, and contained more than one non-convertable binary frame. A bug in Mp3/TS only made it possible to delete such frames from this button only if the file contained max one of them. I have now fixed this bug, and it will work in the next update (which I plan to release pretty soon). Thanks!

Damn, I really would like to know what's going on with that file trimming problem, but it's practically impossible for me when I cannot reproduce it on any of my systems. :( If anyone gets any idea whatsoever, please submit it here anyway.
