+---Topic: Mass Set comment Entry on Beta 14 started by saulniers

Mass Set>Comment doesn't work correctly in beta 14, the most recent available for download. Cursor doesn't appear consistently; won't take typed entries or pasting of entries. Comment block will accept entries under Browse/Edit Tag tab.

First of all, the most recent version is beta 16. Second, it might be a font problem, have you tried to select a smaller font in the program interface settings?

If neither of those seems to be the problem, please post a screenshot to illustrate the problem further. Thanks!

I posted my original report incorrectly. I was using Beta 16, which I installed on 27 October, not Beta 14. I've now experimented with font sizes as you recommended. With Beta 14, I was using Arial TrueType, Size 8 as my default. I had no problem making entries in any Tag Studio field with this font selection. When I installed Beta 16, I selected Arial TrueType Unicode MS, Size 8 as my default. With that font selection, I am able to make entries in all Beta 16 Mass Set Tags/Flags fields except the Comment field. When I attempt to select the Comment field, the cursor does not appear and I can't make an entry. If I change the default Font setting to Arial TrueType, Size 8 rather than Arial TrueType Unicode, Size 8, I can make an entry in the Mass Set>Comment field without difficulty. Also, if I select the Browse/Edit Tags & Flags Tab, I can make entries in all fields, including the Comment field, with either Arial TrueType, Size 8 or Arial TrueType Unicode, Size 8 selected.

To explore whether the problem is general, I've tried one other Unicode Font, TrueType Lucida Sans Unicode, Size 8 and am not able to make Mass Set>Comment entries with the Unicode version of that font either. I can make entries with the regular version.

In summary, Size 8 TrueType Unicode fonts appear to be 1) somewhat larger that plain Size 8 TrueType fonts; and 2) are too large for the Mass Set>Comment field in Beta 16. I did not reinstall Beta 14 to determine whether the same conditions exist with Beta 14

Those are the symptoms I've encountered. A screen shot would not help to demonstrate the condition. If I've been unclear or incomplete, please advise. Meanwhile, Arial TrueType, Size 8 should satisfy my needs.

Thanks, that's what I suspected (that you had selected a somewhat too large font). The comment fields are more sensitive to this than other fields, because they are of another control type.

Interesting. I'm set up with "normal" 96 DPI resolution, and as far as I can tell the font used predominantly in XP is Tahoma 8. I have the same problem with the comment field -- is there someplace you know of where I chould change the font used in textfields? (I'd also seen a similar problem in one other program, now that I think of it.)

Never mind -- I found the program-specific font setting. :)
