Hi everyone,

The last few days I have noticed a sudden increase in activity here on the website (downloads, registrations, forum visitors and such), and I'm a little curious about where it might be coming from?

So, do we maybe have any new users here who heard about Mp3/Tag Studio during the last week or so, who would care to tell me where you heard about the program? I'd appreciate it if you would anyway, thanks in advance guys!  :)

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!  You'll jinx it!  ;)

Though, I do find it extremely funny that last month on the 9th you were asking why is was so quiet and then just short of a month later, you're asking where the sudden activity is coming from!  LMAO!  :D

Must be because I came back!  Actually, I'm guessing it's because winter has finally begun to set in here in the states, so people aren't outside as much.

I won't deny that you have been reponsible for large parts of the activity here on the board the last few days (and you are very welcome to keep it up too ;)), but the noticeable increase in downloads started a few days before that. It's not you who are repeatedly downloading Mp3/Tag Studio too, is it?  :p

Anyway, it's not that big of an increase, just enough to be noticeable, and I was a little curious, that's all (yeah, that's right, I'm talking to you mister Jinx :)).

Don't your weblogs include referers? Or am I missing the point?

Well, not completely, but sort of. If the program was mentioned in e.g. a magazine or tv program, the referer fields won't tell you anything. Also, even if it was mentioned on a large website it will be quite hard to trace the users from the original website entry to the actual file download (given that this website doesn't have a direct link to the setup file of course). Finally, all this implies that you have enough free time to search through megabytes of weblog statistics for a long shot like that in the first place. ;)

LOL!  I tend to have spurts of time on my hands, then I go through lots of lag time with no time whatsoever.  Right now, I'll admit that it's the cold weather and work being a little bit slow.  I'll definitely show my face around here when I'm able to.  I like the conversations that go on and the friendly atmosophere.

As for the downloads... yeah, ya know... this DSL line bandwidth is just being laid to waste, so I set up a program to continually download Tag Studio.  Now, if I could only figure out where that darn program keeps storing them on my hard drives!  ;)  Just kidding!

It is nice to hear that the downloads have increased.  I hope that means you're also getting an equally significant amount of registrations for Tag Studio.

Hmm... you also mentioned a magazine.  I wonder if my email to Maximum PC may be playing a part?  Although I highly doubt it that's the cause, it sure would be nice if it got mentioned in the mag!

Either way, I'm happy to see people chatting it up on the board!

Thanks for recommending Mp3/Tag Studio to a magazine George! :praise:

Spreading the word about the program is probably the best way to get me to work on it more, just so you know everyone. :) (not kidding)

Since my spare time is quite... let's say non-existent, I must keep some relation between the number of users who register the program and the amount of time I spend working on it. At least if I want to keep having food on my table. :( Hence, getting more people to hear about it --> use it --> register it, is a very good way to get your suggestions implemented faster!

And George, the board likes you too!
(she just whispered it to me... ok, displayed it in an error message, but anyway ;))

The good (and potentially bad) thing about Maximum PC--for those who've never read it--is that their readers generally take the words of the magazine for gospel.  (I know I do and I have yet to be disappointed!;)  If a product gets an 8 or 9 (out of 10), readers will give it a shot.  If the mag goes so far as to rate the product "Kick Ass!", then I hope the developer can support the jump in users!

Conversely, God help the developer of a product that gets beat to hell in the mag.  Besides, if they decide to review it, they'll be sure to tell you where they think the shortfalls are.  I don't think you have anything to worry about, though.

DAMN... I'd love to see Tag Studio get some recognition!

I understand about people who read paper or watch TV reviews, but doesn't your host have Analog or something similar? Searching through megs of data is software's job  :D
You should be able to get a list sorted by month/referrer hits immediately, or sooner.

I have only monthly statistics right now, and a short spike, only lasting a few days, will quite easily disappear in these. :(
