Recently (today?  I'm not sure) after renaming a set of files, or performing a mass set, (I'm not sure of other operations) the focus in the directory view will move up to the next higher directory.  This does not happen every time, and I can't pin down anything special.  The oddest thing is that the Working Directory does NOT change, but the "high light" (gray) leaves that directory and is seen on its parent.

In fact I have a feeling that at least once the Working directory DID change -- I suddenly saw a Mass Setting rippling through more files than it should.  Fortunatly I always have Preview mode on.

Is this something new, or have I only just noticed it?  Should I try uninstalling/re-installing?

It is highly unlikely that other files than your selected ones were being processed by any tool in Mp3/Tag Studio, it would take more than a re-selection in the GUI for such a thing to happen. Please try to produce more solid/reproducible evidence for this if you still believe it to be the case.

About smaller problems regarding selection in the Explorer dir tree, this might be dure to some known smaller bugs in the external component used for this tree, and in that case it should hopefully be fixed in the next version of Mp3/Tag Studio.

If it's something else than this, please try to create a reproducible test case, and I will take a look at it right away.

It's happening again!

Two cases: with the "Directory view" pane open, I double-click the currently selected directory, which makes the name editable in place.  I make some change to the name.  When I press enter mp3/tag doesn't update the "Working directory" slot, but instead moves the focus up a level, making the parent directory the "Working directory".  At that point, if I quickly (without looking) do some other operation, such as a rename, it is applied to everything in the parent directory.  Fortunately I have "preview" checked at all times, so I can cancel and re-focus the program.

Second: I just used the manual rename on a file-name in the browse/edit tab.  The file was the only one in the current working directory.  When I performed the rename the filename vanished from the window, and F5 did not restore it.  I had to close mp3/tag and reopen it in order to see the file again.

Slight clarification.  In case one, the focus (and working directory) jump up a level when you switch tabs.

When you say "Directory view", do you mean the "Explorer browse tree"? In that case, I cannot reproduce the described behavior of being able to rename a folder by double clicking its name (this should not be possible). Please clarify.

In the second case, I assume that renaming your files in the browse tool only results in the described strange behavior after the first problem has occured? Or does this always happen when you try to rename a file in the browse tool? Because my tests of renaming files in the browse tool works just fine?

Sorry, I mis-spoke.  First, yes, I meant the "Explorer browse tree", and, second, I don't have to double-click, I just have to single right click to have the directory name going into "rename" mode, with just name high-lighted with a white edge around in in a box, just as it does (with a double-click) in Windows Explorer.  I can then replace or modify the directory name.  This does not change the name in the working directory slot, which now contains a non-existent name.  Moving the focus in the browse tree to another directory and then back to the renamed one does set the working directory name correctly (at least it did just now -- I have a feeling that this doesn't always work, nor does F5 always work, but I will have to watch for such cases.)

If it makes any difference, I'm running Beta 17 on XP Pro.

As to the renameing of files I'll report back after I try it on some stuff I'm working on, but I won't have a chance until later.

Thanks for the clarification, I have now reproduced the problem and will look into it for fixing in a future update.
