-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Support and Bug Reports +---Topic: Window contents jumping started by neo Posted by: neo on Aug. 10 2002,01:45 I'm about to have a freakin seizure. I haven't used tag studio in serveral months. I had 2.17 installed and just tried running it and once it started all its window content started jumping up and down. So even though 2.17 used to work on XP I figured I'd try downloading 3.0 to see if that solved the problem. No luck. Can anyone help? Neo Posted by: neo on Aug. 10 2002,01:55 Before you accuse my hardware. I have a ATI card and I haven't seen this problem with any other app on my system. I tried disabling the hardward acceleration features of XP. I also changed my screen resolution to several different settings. No luck. It appears to be a problem inside the code because it looks like the window contents are caught inside some resize loop. I literally have such a headache now after watching that window jump while I attempted to solve this problem. Neo Posted by: Magnus Brading on Aug. 10 2002,14:43 Start the program with the parameter "-noresize" and it will work. This problem can occur if you are using certain non-standard Windows appearance settings. You can read more about this in the help file under "Known problems". Posted by: Skirge01 on Aug. 14 2002,03:04 I noticed the flickering and did what you suggested with the -noresize parameter. That worked. I did some other testing, too. I unloaded Stardock's Windowblinds and then loaded Studio up and it didn't flicker. I REloaded Windowblinds and it still didn't flicker. I added the -resize parameter and it STILL didn't flicker. Now I actually cannot get it to flicker again. The only thing I didn't try was rebooting. I'll let you know the results the next time I reboot. This is weird! Posted by: Elbow on Aug. 18 2002,10:36 ---------------------QUOTE BEGIN------------------- Start the program with the parameter "-noresize" and it will work. ---------------------QUOTE------------------- For a newbie like myself, Im assuming you mean add this to the command line. "C:\Program Files\Magnus Brading\Mp3-Tag Studio 3.0\mp3tag_s.exe-noresize" Id love to know as I do get some problems with it loading up but nothing major. These sorts of things should be going in the FAQs I suppose. Posted by: Magnus Brading on Aug. 18 2002,20:02 You must have a space between the exe path and the parameter, and you must also have quotes around the exe path if it contains any spaces. Based on the path in your example, it should look like this: ---------------------CODE SAMPLE------------------- "C:\Program Files\Magnus Brading\Mp3-Tag Studio 3.0\mp3tag_s.exe" -noresize ---------------------CODE SAMPLE------------------- Posted by: Skirge01 on Aug. 19 2002,03:12 I finally (hehe... almost sounds like a good thing) had to reboot my computer a minute ago. I remembered to test Tag Studio on reboot. Well, I'm still running it without the noresize parameter and it starts up perfectly. I then closed it down and went into WindowBlinds and told it to skin Tag Studio. I started it up and not only no flickering, but it skinned it for me! I don't know what the heck caused this change, but it's pretty cool when things get messed up and are suddenly fixed better than before! Sure wish that happened more often. George Posted by: tobnull on June 13 2003,07:13 I am no computer programer, I have no idea what you mean by "Start the program with the parameter "-noresize" and it " if you could tell me were exactly I do this and how. I would be most grateful. Posted by: Magnus Brading on June 13 2003,13:04 1. Right-click on your Mp3/Tag Studio icon (in the start-menu, or wherever you keep it). 2. Choose "properties" from the menu that will appear. 3. In the box labeled "name" or similar (the one which contains text that ends with the string "mp3tag_s.exe"), do the following: 3a. Enclose the current contents of that text box in quotes. 3b. Append the word "-noresize" after the current contents, with a space inbetween. 3c. The contents should now look something like the following (the path might differ on your system): ---------------------CODE SAMPLE------------------- "C:\Program Files\Magnus Brading\Mp3-Tag Studio 3.0\mp3tag_s.exe" -noresize ---------------------CODE SAMPLE------------------- 4. Press the ok button. 5. You can now use this icon, and the program will be started with the command-line parameter "-noresize". Posted by: BigFurryMonster on Nov. 16 2003,20:23 Has this bug been fixed yet? I experience the flickering, too. -noresize works, but I might like to do some resizing... BFM Posted by: Magnus Brading on Nov. 16 2003,20:50 If you use standard fonts and sizes in Windows it should work. It may still happen for some Window GUI settings in the current version though. end |
