-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Bookmark Converter Support and Bug Reports +---Topic: Personal toolbar sync problem 30 day trial probl. started by Bernd Posted by: Bernd on Feb. 05 2006,22:00 2 problems with BMC 3.2beta2: First, I cannot further use the program, I run it very often during 3 days since I tried to overcome the problem which I will report below, but now, only 4 days after download I get the message "30 days trial period over". None of the situations You mentioned Dec. 26 2002,22:43 has taken place with my computer - in my humble opinion. Second, I was not able to use Your program such that synchronisation of Personal Toolbar (firefox 1.0.7), Personal Bar (Opera 8.5) or Links (IE 6.0.2900) would have worked (I use these 3 browsers). After synchronization I find empty personal toolbars, at least with firefox and opera after synchronisation. In fact - is there something to take care with, what I have not noticed, or do not You support this feature? In fact - I do not really need to synchronise these 5 or 7 items on the toolbars, but let them undeleted!! What have I tried (a lot of things! ![]() I started with one browser establishing a correct set of bookmarks by changing its corrupted bookmarks file. Then I used Your program to convert bookmarks from this browser to the second and to the third. This worked well, I got identical sets of bookmarks and also correct personal toolbars in each browser. Now I tried to synchronize. To force Your program to start correct with a new job from the very beginning, I run first re-...(I dont remember the correct name of the button in the sync/merge utility as Your program is no more cooperative). Bernd Posted by: Magnus Brading on Feb. 07 2006,11:46 Thanks for your report. It is very strange that the personal toolbars will not work for you during sync, while working during normal conversion, since these two features are based on the same code. I will look into it. About the trial period issue, I have no idea why this happened, it seems to happen to a very low percentage of people, and I have not yet been able to trace this problem to a possible source yet. ![]() Posted by: Bernd on Feb. 08 2006,14:32 I think that I found out why BMC was not able to handle my personal toolbars. I had within my bookmarks collection within a folder a complete collection of bookmarks saved from another computer which included a folder "Links". Although subfolder only, this subfolder "Links" and perhaps also similar subfolders like "Bookmarks Toolbar Folder" might have caused the problem, for after erasing these the program now works well! Bernd Posted by: Magnus Brading on Feb. 08 2006,21:30 Ah, thanks for the report about this special case, I did think it sounded very strange! end |
