Is there more then one way Posted by: Magnus Brading on Dec. 21 2005,22:14 I'm not sure exactly what you mean, please describe in a little more detail and I'll try to help. Posted by: calberga on Dec. 22 2005,03:56 It is sad, but true, that the designers of the mp3 tag system seem to have little or no knowledge/interest in Classical music -- I have ranted on this before. However, in the v2 tags there ARE tags for "composer", "lyricist", and "conductor", among others. There are several ways to get these, neather blindingly obvious. 1) Click on "Help" at the top of the window. You will see a line: Full ID3v1 and ID3v2 support is integrated tightly with all program functions. where "ID3v1 and ID3v2" is a link. The linked page is interesting, but for the purposes of this note to be ignored. Instead click on "Index" in the tool-bar of the help window and type in "v2". This will find the entry for "Using special ID3v2 fields". This will take you to a list of the fields with the template items for getting to them 2) In the "Browse/Edit tags & flags" Tab check the box below the file list named "Advanced ID3v2 info" this will open a satelite window showing the non-v1 fields, some of them explicitly labeled. Among those you will find "Composer" (but not "lyricist", nor "conductor"), with a slot you can fill. 3) In any of the tabs which use templates, if you check the "Advanced mode" box, right clicking while the cursor is in the template window will bring up a menu of tagging items [O mighty creator, what is the correct name for these things with "<" and ">" start and end characters?] which you can select to insert into the template. Near the bottom you will see "Advanced v2 fields" which will bring up a secondary menu listing them all. I have to admit to a total inability to make the <V2_TXXX> tag work, but that is probably due to some excessive bone between the ears. I hope this addresses your problem. If not, it may be of some use anyway. Cyril N. Alberga Posted by: Magnus Brading on Dec. 22 2005,09:31 Thanks for the info Calberga. ![]() ---------------------QUOTE------------------- 2) In the "Browse/Edit tags & flags" Tab check the box below the file list named "Advanced ID3v2 info" this will open a satelite window showing the non-v1 fields, some of them explicitly labeled. I told you the bone was too thick. I always thought that that was to add new frames to the FILE, not the extra window! So my post was a some use, even to me. Cyril Posted by: Magnus Brading on Dec. 22 2005,13:31 Well, the frames are added to the file, and since all frames in the current file are displayed in the list at the bottom of this window (and are also settable from there), it can be said that it is added to the window too I guess you could say. ![]() ![]() Posted by: Guest on Dec. 23 2005,11:12 Thanks! I will try it and let you know how it goes. Posted by: Guest on Dec. 27 2005,19:08 Now Ive tried to tag mp3:s from a file. I used advansed mode and <TrackNr>;<Title>......<Comments>;<V2_TCOM> When I do execute I get a error !?!?! message "Some fields were truncated while writing ID3v1tag to file I use preview an it all looks greeeeaaaat. But when a look at the file from a filefolder, mediaplayer, etc... Comments and Composer doesnt show up. Any suggestions??????????????? Posted by: Magnus Brading on Dec. 28 2005,10:42 The "Some fields were truncated..." warning message is only a warning, and as long as you use both ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags everything is just fine. About the composer/comment problems, you do know that after using the preview mode you have to tag the files for real too to save the changes, right? If you did this too, please submit an example of an exact file line and the tagging template that you used, and I will take a look at it. Posted by: calberga on Dec. 28 2005,16:52 It also depends on what is meant by "look at the file from a file folder". Unfortunately, many programs out there only display the contents of the v1 tags, or at most the v2 tags which correspond to v1 tags. They just ignore the expanded set of tags given by v2, including "composer', etc. Posted by: Magnus Brading on Dec. 28 2005,17:22 Yes, that is a good point indeed! Posted by: Guest on Dec. 28 2005,20:29 Yes its the programs/windows XP folder that cant read ID3v2. tags Ive tried with widows media p(l)ayer. winamp, and som other. programs but nooo. Found out that quicktime can read id3v2 tags so Im dwnloading it now to see. Or have you any suggestions?? Posted by: Magnus Brading on Dec. 28 2005,22:36 I've heard that Mp3/Tag Studio is supposed to be pretty good for reading ID3v2 tags. ![]() Posted by: Guest on Dec. 29 2005,19:26 ![]() ![]() ![]() Ha Ha Players!!!!!!!!! ![]() Posted by: Guest on Dec. 29 2005,21:30 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Found my player ITune/Quicktime.
