Posted by: Magnus Brading on Sep. 22 2004,04:15 Ok, so exactly what happens? What template are you using, and what would the resulting filename have been for this file? Are there any error messages, or what happens? Posted by: benoitm on Sep. 22 2004,05:50 I should have been more precise... I have an mp3 with an elipsis (...) in the title. Actually I have many. For example: Artist: Jeff Foxworthy Album: You Might Be a Redneck if... I use the auto rename from tag option with the following format string: f:\music<\><Artist><\><Album><\><TrackNr> - <Title>.mp3 Where f: is an external firewire drive. I get the following error (I could not figure out how to copy from the status window): Failed to Rename 01 - Introduction.mp3 to f:\music\Jeff Foxworthy\You might be a Redneck if...\01 - Introduction.mp3 I should add that I just renamed around 25,000 files and the only errors I got had to do with elipsis in the Artist or Album tag. Thanks for your help, Benoit Posted by: Magnus Brading on Sep. 22 2004,13:50 I have seen problems related to creating directories ending in three dots before too, it seems to be a limitation in the filesystem (try creating a folder named e.g. "abcdef..." in Windows Explorer, and you'll see that the three dots are removed). When I had this problem in Mp3/Tag Studio, it just silently removed the dots though, like Explorer does, not giving any errors, but it might depend on the operation. I will make a note about filtering out such instances myself, to prevent any possible problems, thanks. end |
