I am having a bit of a problem with removing ID3v2 tags that have a graphic in it.  It varies with different files, but it can take up to 1min 30sec to remove an ID3v2 tag (in task manager it shows the CPU maxed out).  If the tag doesn't have a graphic (picture of the album) then it is almost instanteous.  Some files on any given album will not have the problem (even though they do have the graphic imbedded) others will have the problem.  There is no difference in the files in the advanced ID3x2 info tab (they all have the same properties).  The problem is definitely random.  If I remove the ID3v2 tags from one album (all files have the same graphic) some will have the problem others will not.  Then I delete those MP3s and restore orginal MP3s and then remove the ID3v2 tags again the problems will appear on different files that in the first test did not have the problem.  They also have different times (more or less time to remove same tags)

My PC is an Athlon 2000+ with 512MB RAM running XP Pro so I don't think it has to do with PC.

Anybody have any ideas?  Sorry for being so wordy but sometimes it helps...

Very strange, I never heard anything similar before. If you'd like you can send me a sample file (by email) that you have had this problem with at least once (i.e. in the state it is before the tag is removed, from a backup copy). I'll then try to duplicate the file in 20 copies or so, and try to remove the tag on them all, to see if any of them will get this delay problem.

You are working with the files directly from the harddisk right, and not over a network or such?
