Please consider creating checkboxes for filenames in the "processing results preview" window. For example, when you're doing a batch from the "rename from tags" tab, you might see a number of files that need preprocessing. They may be missing an entry from one of the tag fields you're using for the rename process, or you may want to edit them manually before renaming -- for any of a variety of reasons you need to process them in a different section of Tag Studio first.

Right now, the only way to isolate files for further tag processing is by unchecking a few at a time after canceling out of the preview. Maybe a CD I ripped consists of "various artists", and GraceNote or FreeDB has the artist as "Various" with the song title "Artist - Title". (I can't imagine how that would be useful, but it seems to be a frequent format for compilation albums.) I have to back out of the rename preview, go to "Browse/edit tags/flags" and fix all the ones I remember from whatever their current odd name might be, and then go back to preview to see what other ones need attention.

It struck me that it'd be a huge help to just be able to uncheck files that need their tags tweaked before they get renamed. I've even tried doing screenshots to help me remember what obscure filename I have to "Browse/edit tags/flags" on, but it's still kind of a clumsy process.  :)

Hehe, ok, thanks for your input, I will consider it for a future version.

Maybe it would make more sense just to be able to edit the filename (rename/F2) or edit the tag directly from the preview window? I'm not sure how most people use it, but when readying a batch for renaming, I make lots of use of the "browse/edit tags/flags" pane. It offers the flexibility that's most useful for adjusting the renaming during a batch.
 Here's a thought -- one solution might be to have the functionality of "browse/edit tags/flags" in its own window, so you could do tweaks from anywhere else in the program. That pane is the one that most supplements the rest of the functions.

This is a balance between modularity/non-messiness and functionality, and I'm not sure. I've thought about it before though.

I see your point -- it could easily get complicated here. It's not completely modular, though; you can't move the preview aside and make changes (that might then even be reflected in the preview).

People are used to spreadsheets and databases where you can manually edit a field at a time, so it might be intuitive enough for those that explore the preview window, and it wouldn't get in the way for those that don't. Click on a field and it turns into an editable string.
Of course, I realize it's easy for me to say -- I don't have to write the code. :)
