Hi guys,

I know this has been discussed a few times, but there are some details missing.  I'm at about the same point as ABNC in this post: < http://www.magnusbrading.com/cgi-bin....a+64bit >  (I hope that link works, the topic is "MP3 Tag Studio 3.05 Crashes on Vista Home")

Well, I have Vista Ultimate 64 and the latest version of MP3TS and it's producing something very close to what ABNC reports there.  I've tried setting compatibility mode to "XP SP2" and making sure that as a user I had full access to the MP3TS folder in "Program Files (x86)", plus I ticked off all the compatibility options having to do with the display.  I've also merged the usual HKCU registry key.  No Joy.

However, it's clear that there *is* a way, because SecretsKept has it working.  So, dude, how'd you do it???  :)

Out of curiosity I downloaded the latest full installer.  Ran it and now everything works.  I'd already merged the HKCU key into the registry while playing with the copied-over and upgraded version.  So there's something in the installer that does good things to make the program run in 64-bit Vista.  I then tried removing all the special "compatibility" settings that I'd tried previously.  Still works okay.  You apparently don't need any compatibility settings at all when it's installed in the Program Files (x86) folder.  It *may* be necessary to give yourself security permissions on the TagStudio folder.  I'd already done that and hadn't bothered to reset them to the defaults.

Moral of the story is then...  Use the HKCU key from your old XP-32 installation, merge it into the registry, and then run the full installer.  I'd already copied over the installation from the XP-32 disk, so there may be something that came along with it that validated the license.  Regardless, it works fine now.
end
