After I install the application, whenever I try to close it, the application hangs.  I have to kill the process from task manager in order to restart.  Everything seems to function fine.

I need to change my previous assesment of the problem.

Version 3.05 works fine.

I upgraded to 3.5 (beta 17) and the program hangs when closing.

If I upgrade or install the 3.5 (beta 17), the window goes away when closing, but the process continues to run and lock up Windows Explorer.

Very strange, this has never been reported before. What operating system are you using?

(PS. I edited your posts a bit to obey some forum rules, please email me for more information if you're curious.)

I'm using Windows XP Pro SP2.

I've tried uninstalling and removing registry entries and reinstalling.

I've tried the upgrade procedure and the base install. Both have the problem.

On the trial version the window goes away when I close it, but the process keeps running.  On the registered version, the window never goes away, it just locks up.  Either way I have to kill it via the task manager.

I've installed the newest version on a virtual machine and it ran fine.

I've run the program with no problems on this exact machine before.  Then I had to reinstall the OS, and now I'm having problems.   I use a dual monitor display, but I didn't have problems before.

This is very strange.

Very strange indeed. Your story points to something in your computer as being the culprit though, seeing that it even worked on the same computer before, don't you agree?

The app doesn't depend on the .NET framework does it?

One difference in my setup from last time is that I have .NET 2.0 installed.

Nope, no .NET dependencies whatsoever, just pure native win32 x86 code.

Have the same problem, on shutdown the program crashes
But I had it before .NET 2.0 already, so I don't think it has anything to do with it.

If MP3TS is active and you rename folders with Explorer which you have worked on in MP3TS but are not active in MP3TS, could that be a problem?

Please remove the post before this because I forgot to register :)

MS trying to send following files with error report (if needed I can send these files to you):
\Temp\WER698a.dir00\mp3tag_s.exe.mdmp
\Temp\WER698a.dir00\appcompat.txt

My specs: Pentium IV, 2,4, 1GB RAM, Windows XP SP2, all patches installed, also ASP.NET 2.0 + patches installed

Since I cannot reproduce it I cannot do much to analyze the problem. :( One good guess though is that some Explorer shell extension in your computer is interfering with the Explorer tree in Mp3/Tag Studio at shutdown.
