I'll try to make my idea as clear as possible.

I'm using the tag creation tab to make id3 tags so my ipod can categorize songs properly. A lot of the songs i have don't have any information in them at all so I started using your program. It works really great so far, but i have to give the naming a helping hand sometimes. Here is an example.

name of the file: team_doyobi_-_a1_-_song.mp3

the name of the artist is "team doyobi" and the track name is "song". i want to trash the part in the middle "a1" and replace it with a different album name. I figured out how to parse the name to get the "a1" out and use the other information.

<artist>_-_<trash>_-_<title>

What i would like to do is replace <TRASH> with a value that will be placed in the tag. What I'm doing now is placing the album name in front of the file name and telling the program to use that value.

name of the file: dfo_bad_-_team_doyobi_-_a1_-_df0_bad.mp3
<album>_-_<artist>_-_<trash>_-_<title>

That works, but it requires me to rename the file so it can pick it up.

Or what would be even better is to use a temple for the tag since the only thing that changes is the song title. So you could set a global album and artist and change just the track name.

I'm not sure how tall of an order this is, but I would totally buy it if i could just replace on the <trash> tag.

This situation is ideal for the "Mass set tags/flags" tool. Simply switch to its tab, fill in the name of the album and press execute. Bam, done!

There would be no point in complicating the auto tag tool with static values like this, when the two processes aren't really related. The solution I just described will actually be easier in any case (if you for example count the number of mouse clicks and button presses needed to accomplish the operation).

See what I mean?
