+---Topic: Conversion Problem Opera 7 to Mozilla 6/IE started by Martinjay

Am trying to convert Bookmarks in Opera 7 Series (WinXP Pro machine) to Mozilla 1.6 and or 1E6. Having identified the files to convert from and to, I get the following error message:

"Access violation at address 00456D23 in module 'bm_conv.exe'. Read of Address 00000024."

The conversion and procedure freeze at 50% complete Bookmarks 1267 Folders 96.

Has anyone the meaning and solution to this please for a newbie to the program?

Regards

Martinjay

This sounds like either a corrupted IE favorite, some change in the IE favorite format or possibly a pure bug in Bookmark Converter. If you email me a zip-file containing your IE favorites (entire structure, including subfolders) I can analyze the problem for you and help you fix it.

I have the same problem here.

When I try to convert an Opera *.adr file I get the same error message.

The conversion process dies half way and my book marks won't be written/converted in the IE favourite directory.

Any ideas?!

Please send me the Opera file and I will analyze it.

I'm having the exact same problem and wondering if there was ever any resolution. It appears to be an Opera problem. I get it whenever I try to do anything w/Opera bookmarks. The conversion from Opera to IE used to work OK. The problem might have started when I upgraded to Opera 7.5.

I never got any bookmark file to analyze from the posters above, please send your bookmark file to me, and I will be able to analyze the problem and fix it. I cannot do this without anyone sending me a sample file that reproduces this problem.

Tell me an email address to send it to.

Please see private message for my email address (I don't want to put it in plain text format on a public page like this, due to the spam address harvesting risk).
