-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Support and Bug Reports +---Topic: Can I use file creation date in my tags? started by Jason Posted by: Jason on Mar. 16 2009,03:14 I've been using MP3 Tag Studio for many years, and in spite of thousands of tagging operations, I've always preserved the original file creation dates via the option in MP3TS. I'm thinking about changing that to make it easier for my backup program to determine which files have been modified without doing bit-by-bit compares on a 100 GB collection. Before I do so, I was thinking about inserting the file creation date into an ID3V2 tag in case I ever want to reference it. I actually find it useful to know when something was originally ripped. Is there a way to do that in MP3 Tag Studio? I have not found File Creation Date as an input for Tag from Name, but if it's there I'd love to use it. If there's not a way in the program, then what I plan to do is use KenRename to rename ALL my files according to: CurrentFileName^YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS^.mp3 and then use MP3 Tag Studio to TagFromFileName and insert anything between the two carats into a tag. I'll then use KenRename to strip out the ^*^. Of course, that involves a lot of file manipulation, so if there's a way to do it just in tags, I'd be very interested. Any ideas? --Jason Posted by: Magnus Brading on Mar. 21 2009,18:34 It is currently not possible to automatically import the file timestamp into the tag or filename with Mp3/Tag Studio, no, sorry. end |
