After a reinstall of  Windows, I didn't reinstalled mp3/tag studio and during the first programstart I got the Errormsg "Inconsistency in registry entries detected." Think that could be OK, while there would be only 1 of this message, but I got it 7 times.
But the main annoying thing is, that thies 7 msg now comes during each programstart. Shouldn't mp3tagst just write the defaults into registry after first run? Or does it needs some more deepOS-entries?

Ok, most users maybe just reinstall all programs, but I do not like to waste my time with reinstall all my progs. so maybe this could be changed?

Ah, it is version 3.5 beta15, not the newest, but I don't know when to reinstall my OS again ;)

If you have deleted the data in your registry you need to re-install Mp3/Tag Studio, then it will work again. There are many programs that will become broken if you just delete all the data in your registry like that, that's why the programs have installers in the first place. :)

Yes, unfortunately most programs write to much to the registry. And I don't like it, cause it's mostly not really needed to place there! Window size and position, MRU and so on can well be save to file. And this fact won't be changed by Multiusersupport, while there are special paths in every Windows (since Win95) for every user.
Have not yet looked what mts writes to registry... ?

So yes, most likly this just was a wish to improve.

A late answer, but non the less something you should know ...

Ok, I now made a fresh install using an account that has admin rights. All went fine and the admin won't get the errors mentioned above when running mp3ts.
But while trying to run mp3ts with a normal user account you'll get them. Are the registry settings your installer do are necessary to be written to a key, a normal user can't access, or is it just installed for the current user whlie installing, because you haven't considered a multiuser install?

The registry data is written in user-local registry keys, so that some settings should be independent for each user. This also means that each user needs to install the program for themselves though, yes.

mmh, Yes that also came to my mind but wouldn't I need to have admin rights to install it? Sorry if this is a faq but I couldn't find it.

/edit: To clarify: Maybe the installer will call errors while running under Normal User (how is it called in english?), but will have set the user specific settings (under HKCU)?

It depends of course of what privilege level we're talking about, but it should not need explicit admin rights, no.

Sorry, can't tell you. I've now exported and imported on other Account the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Magnus Brading Software. Seems to do it, I don't get any errors now. Can't you just take default values, if you can't find thies settings? But as I said sometime befor: Your program rocks!

Of course it is theoretically possible to make it use default values after any deletion of registry values, but since it is designed to be installed by the included installer only, this is not currently implemented, sorry. I'm glad you like it anyway. :)
