I've been using MP3/Tag Studio for years, and always been happy with its speed and powerful features (ones that are not available in any other tagging program I've tried).

Up until earlier this year, when more and more programs started supporting Unicode natively (iTunes, Winamp 5.2, etc.)

This was my mark to start using Unicode for saving my tags, for maximum compatability with standars. Unfortunately, as much as I'd want to continue using MP3/Tag Studio, I cannot right now, since any tagging I do with it would be saved in Windows' ISO charset and be practically obsolete (future-wise). For now I'm using MP3Tag, which is good, but not as good as MP3/Tag Studio (on the other hand, I have no other choice).

I would reallly love to see Unicode support added for this wonderful program, since it's really the best one around.

Besides that, good job on creating the best MP3 tagging program ever. :)

I'm glad you like Mp3/Tag Studio. :)

You should never have to worry about non-unicode tags being "non-future safe" though. The ID3v2 tag format supports both unicode and non-unicode contents by specification, and this means that no player will ever "stop supporting" non-unicode tags, because it will always be in the specification. Also, converting non-unicode strings to unicode strings is a trivial process, so you should never have to worry about any data being "lost in an ancient format" either.

The biggest problem with non-unicode tags is if you want to put special characters in the tags (like e.g. Chinese), but other than that it's mostly just hype, really.

Not just Chinese, though.  While what ever codepage I seem to use normally contains things like (I hope these display)
Å å Ø ø Þ þ Ð ð, etc., it doesn't contain a lot of the Eastern European, Balkan or Turkish characters, such as "L with a slash", "C, S, Z with an inverted circumflex (Hacek), and various hooks on the bottoms of letters.  Nor does it support Greek or Cyrilic.  As an avid collector of folkmusic I really would like to have all of the above!

Magnus, thanks for your reply :)

You really didn't answer my question directly - do you have any plans on supporting Unicode in the future?

And Unicode is very important for a user like me, because a lot of my songs are Israeli and are tagged in Hebrew.

Thanks again :-)

Unicode support is on the list for future versions, yes.

I too would love to see a Unicode version of this wonderful program. This is BY FAR the best MP3 tagging software available, but unfortunately I can only use it for 1/2 of my music collection because of the lack of unicode support. Half of the music in my collection is Korean and Japanese Pop. MP3 Tag Studio not only will not read the unicode tags, but it doesn't comprehend the unicode filenames either.

Since I tend to name my files with the same info as the artist - album - trackNr - Title info in the tags, I'm screwed by MP3TS right from the start. The program sees a typical Korean song's filename as: ?????? (Drunken Tiger) - ????? - 01 - ?????.mp3
