just a small UI thing.
In Mass set tags/flags, the Genre is not always remembered between sessions (closing and restarting the program).
Steps to reproduce:
Select any Genre in Mass set tags/flags
Switch to another tab (Browse/Edit, whatever)
close TagStudio
start TagStudio
Switch to Mass set tags/flags
the Genre has changed (always to the next genre in the list?)

I cannot seem to reproduce it, even when I follow your instructions to the letter. :(

I'll try to look into it anyway. If you have any more clues about how to reproduce it, please let me know.

Thanks!

Hi Magnus - the key to this seems to be the selection of the Genre. If I do not change the Genre on Mass set tags/flags, there's no problem. I can browse other tabs, do whatever, close then restart the program, and the Mass set tags/flags Genre dropdown is unaffected. But if I change the Genre being displayed/selected, then switch to another tab before closing, the Mass set tags/flags Genre will be changed the next time that I start the program.

This occurs regardless of whether the Mass set tags/flags Genre has focus when I switch tabs. It also seems to be independent of which tab I select after changing the Mass set tags/flags Genre. It also seems to be independent of whether I make any edits in the succeeding tab.

Dunno if more info might help, but here it is:
MP3 Tag Studio 3.01
Install Path: F:\mp3\TagStudio 3

CPU: Intel Pentium III 925 MHz MMX (dual proc)
Memory: Total - 1048 MB, Free - 691 MB
OS: Microsoft Windows 2000  Workstation 5.0 Service Pack 2 (Build 2195)

Internet Explorer: 6.0.2600.0000
ComCtl32.dll: 5.50.4704.1100
Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
Shell32.dll: 5.00.3502.4718

Obviously this is not a showstopper, it's just annoying, partially  because it didn't use to do this (version 2.x)

Thanks for the new details. Sadly I cannot reproduce it by using this refined description either. :( I have tried both to edit it and not to edit, and edit in different ways. Still nothing.

Have you added any custom genres to the drop-down list?

Yes, I have added 2 or 3 custom genres - I should have mentioned this. It does not seem to matter whether I select custom or preset genres, however. I will try deleting the custom genres and see if that affects the behaviour.

Update: the custom genres appear to have something to do with this. I deleted them from Settings, restarted MP3TS, and the issue did not occur after multiple reproduction attempts. I then added one custom genre, exited and restarted. At first I could not reproduce the issue. I added another custom genre and retested. Still no issue. Then I figured it out. Now if I can just explain it  :p

1) I added a custom genre named 'classics'
1a) If I select any genre that precedes 'classics' alphabetically, the issue will not appear.
1b)  If I select any genre that follows 'classics' alphabetically, then choose another tab before exiting, the genre in Mass set tags/flags will be 1 lower in the list.
Example: selected 'Ethnic', switched tabs and exited. Genre on restart was 'Euro-House'

2) I then added a custom genre named 'technoise'
2a) If I select any genre that precedes 'classics' alphabetically, the issue will not appear.
2b) If I select any genre that follows 'classics' alphabetically, then choose another tab before exiting, the genre in Mass set tags/flags will be 1 lower in the list.
2c) If I select any genre that follows 'technoise' alphabetically, the genre in Mass set tags/flags will be 2 lower in the list.
Example: selected 'Trailer', switched tabs and exited. Genre on restart was 'Tribal'

So it seems to be an issue of displacement by the custom genres. But we do know for sure that MP3TS can survive dozens of exits and relaunches without causing problems  :D

Yes! Thanks for not giving up Disposable Hero. It will be fixed in the next bugfix update.
