(This is my first post and I am bewildered by the complicated interface to send it!
Regarding your WMP9 "tag problem": WMP uses it's own database to track your music file library. On a Windows 98SE system, it is located at C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player\Currentdatabase57r.wmdb. When you first load the base through the GUI to populate it, windows will then utilitize that information to display the ID3 tags until you click on the (mp3/wma) file to update the database.
If you changed a large number (or all) of your music file's tags, the easiest way to reenter them with the updated information is to delete the above databases (there are two of them on my computer - 57r and 59r - and repopulate the database as you did on the original installation. If, however, you only redid, for example, several hundred files on a large database of several thousand files, you can sort the database in the large window by location, highlight the files, and then delete them (from MEDIA LIBRARY ONLY!!! - NOT From your computer. If you make this MISTAKE, you can still recover them from the RECYCLE BIN!. Then use the add files button to add the directory of these files (assuming they are in their own folder) back to your library with the updated information.
If you have only a single or few files to update, you can click to play them through MP3/Tag Studio's browse window to update the information. Sometimes this won't work until or unless you change or add information to change the tag information on the specific file being clicked. I frequently just add a space to the artist name to get the "write button" to hightlight, and backspace out the unnecessary space, click the write button, and then click the track to play the track which forces Windows to update the item in it's own database when track play begins.
