Hey.  I just registered the 3.5 version of the studio and I'm only able to load it once before it gives me an error screen @ startup.  The error screen says "Sorry, but your 30-Day trial version has expired.  Please register your copy @ www.yourproduct.com."  What good is registering the prog if it doesn't get rid of this?  Thanks!

Are you really sure you are talking about Mp3/Tag Studio? There isn't even a 30 day trial period at all in Mp3/Tag Studio?! (there is no trial period at all actually)

Actually, yes.  It's really weird.  I can start it once, and in some cases a few times, but eventually after time (usually no later that a few hours), if I don't use it, it'll pop up with that message.  I have to uninstall then re-install to get it working again.  Weird...

This sounds extremely weird, but might be related to the suspected third-party shell extension problems reported by a handful people for beta 15 of Mp3/Tag Studio 3.5.

This leads me to believe that this message of yours is actually displayed by some other program than Mp3/Tag Studio (especially since there is no code to do this in Mp3/Tag Studio to begin with), and it would be very interesting if you could post a screenshot of this message here in this thread the next time you see it, so that I can take a look, ok? That would be great.

Thanks!

Update: I just checked out the site "www.yourproduct.com", and it looks like a typical shady fraudster site, so this message of yours might also very well be a result of some kind of virus of spyware infection in your computer. :( In any case, Mp3/Tag Studio is in no way associated with that site, and there is absolutely not any mention of this URL in the real Mp3/Tag Studio code, so there is something strange going on here for sure.

Yeah, I checked that site out and thought the same.  I'm not sure if it actually meant to check out "www.yourproduct.com" or if it meant the equivelant.   You know, replace "yourproduct" with whatever product it actually was (meaning go to the product website).  Either way, here's a pic!  Hope you can find a fix.  Should I go back to a previous version for now?

Thanks for the picture. This is most definately some kind of spyware or virus attack on your computer, and to be safe I think you need to clean it first. After that you should be able to use any version of Mp3/Tag Studio that you like.

Again, I can assure you that this message does not really come from Mp3/Tag Studio. It is a typical spyware scheme, especially considering the generic domain name in that message and everything, meant to confuse people just like it did you and me at first.

If anyone else has any more info about this spyware, please let us know here.

Ok, I did some more research, and it does indeed seem to be some kind of virus or spyware. Please check these out:

And also search for the following terms in google, so see hundreds of people being confused about the exact same message in other products:

"please register your copy" www.yourproduct.com

Ah ha!  Thanks!  Now... any clue as to where I might be able to find a good *free* spyware remover?  Thanks again!

Spybot Search and Destroy... it's free and it's sensationally good at killing that kind of crap off permanently, AND making sure nothing else like it ever gets onto your machine.

Thanks for the software advice, but I think it goes a little further.  Check this out.  I downloaded it and ran it.  It found quite a bit, but I had to restart to get the rest.  I restarted and then it scanned and completed.  I waited a little while, then ran the program again, and it popped up with this error message!!!  If I click "okay" the program starts regularly.  Any ideas now?  I think it may be affecting other programs from starting correctly also.  I know this goes beyond the MP3 Studio forum, but I'm hoping someone might have some profound knowledge ;-)  Thanks for anything!

Yep, seems like you're dealing with a nasty file infecting virus here. :(

I'd recommend attempting a clean-out with the Trend Micro online scanner Housecall, which can be run from this URL:

http://housecall.trendmicro.com

Good luck, I hope it works out for you, viruses are nasty!

Welp... finally got a virus scanner and that was it... found about 14,000 infected files (ouch!!!;).  Ended up having to do a reformat of my system.  However, now I have a virus free comp!  And... everything works!  Even progs that I never thought would run because they hadn't for so long.  One problem though... <license related question removed>  Thanks for all the help!!!
