+---Topic: IE Favorites apostrophe started by FishStyx

In converting or syncing Firefox Bookmarks to IE Favorites the apostrophe in IE is replaced with "'" characters. The Firefox bookmark apostrophes remain intact. I've had to download a file renaming utility to repair the IE bookmarks every time I perform a sync (or the initial conversion).

I've seen other posts on this error, but no solution. My apologies if I missed a posted solution. Great utility BTW, thanks for your time and effort.

Which version of Bookmark Converter are you using?
Posted by: FishStyx on Jan. 07 2007,22:28

I am using 3.2 beta2. It's the only version on your download page. I downloaded & used it only a few days ago.

Ok, thanks for the report, it has now been noted for investigation.

May I ask when you think you will have time to resolve this discrepancy? This error was reported first in September and then again in November. I like Bookmark Converter and want to continue using it, but it's sort of a pain to go back and fix 266 favorites every time I sync. I have over 3300 bookmarks and (for the time being) continue to use both IE and Firefox.

Regards,

I'll try to do it quite soon, sorry. When a bug is only reported by one user it tends to get a bit lower priority, since it might just be a local problem on the user's computer (people classify the weirdest things in their computers as bugs in your software), but now there are two users who reported it, so the priority just went up.

Can you give an estimate on when the fix for this error will be implemented? This was first reported back in September 2006 and several more customers have reported the same issue.

Bookmark Converter is a good program, but the support seems to be lacking. If you want people to contribute and advertise your product by word of mouth then you need to be a little more active in supporting it.

Sincerely,

The recent Vista support problems have bigger priority, please see the following thread for more info:

Yes, I read the thread referenced in another of your customers bug reports. My opinion would be to put Vista second on the list, since the installed base of Vista is considerably smaller, and focus on your Windows XP customers. At least Windows XP works without all of Bill's new hooks and DRM crap.

You've had 5 months to fix this stupid apostrophe bug. Looks like I'm in search of a new bookmark converter. Good luck with your Vista mess.

I too have seen this problem every time I have converted Firefox bookmarks to IE Favorites.

Has it been fixed? I cannot use my trial version any longer because the 30 days has expired.

If the problem has been fixed I would pay to register.

It will be fixed as soon as the Vista problem is fixed. There will be an announcement on the website and in this forum to let you all know.

OK thanks.

Hello,

I have same problem with apostrophe anf IE7 : the apostrophe in IE is replaced with " ' " characters.

I am using version 3.2 beta2.

When will you solve this minor problem of conversion ?

Thx for response !

It should indeed be in the next upgrade, as mentioned above. I just have a hundred thousand things going on at the moment, which is why I haven't been able to release this update yet. I'm very sorry for this, please stay tuned. :ashamed:
