I have a question that is really really bugging me.  Why is it that the whole CDDB thing has to be by a tree or by folder?  I am a part time dj who has THOUSANDS of Mp3 that are arranged by TYPE of music NOT by Artist and Album (makes it eaiser to use DJ wise).  I would LOVE to have a reverse lookup option that would allow you to look up a SINGLE track at a time.

Yes I know it's kind of a pain but converting my whole collection (over 40 gigs) to Artist/album folders is IMPOSSIBLE since some of my earlier ripped CD didn't bring across album info.

I would like to see a reverse lookup that would at least take Artist and/or song title and then let me choose from a list of albums.

Just a thought

I think you must have mixed up Mp3/Tag Studio with some other program, because Mp3/Tag Studio does not have any CDDB functionality at all.

I might be able to offer you something of an explanation anyway I think. You see, CDDB lookups are based on the layout of whole CDs (number of tracks, lengths of these tracks etc). When you have only one song, it will provide too little info to be able to uniquely identify it in the CDDB database. Hence, I don't think that what you are suggesting is even technically possible, so please go easy on the guys that you really meant to tell this to, when you find them, ok? ;)

Thanks for the VERY quick response.  I know that MP3 tag studio doesn’t do a CDDB lookup.  I have been using your wonderful program for over 2 years now.  Personally, I think it kicks Tag and Re-maim's A$$ any day of the week.  (IMHO).  The addition of the “preview” checkbox in the current version is a GODSEND.

Let me flesh this out a little more:  (AHEM)

The new Windows Media Mangler 9 has a nice “feature” added to it.  If you right click on a song in your list it will look up the song and will display (when I can get it to work RIGHT) the album or albumS that is appears on.  GREAT feature if and when it works.

What I would love to see is a reverse look up that takes Artist and then Title and looks at the CDDB or all music databases and then shows you EVERY CD that that track has appeared on.  Then, by a mere click of the button, you could have all the CORRECT info dynamically pasted into the ID3 v2 tag files.   Better yet (yes I have stopped taking drugs, why do you ask) if the program could look through your folder and then ask “The following tracks were also found to be on this CD.  Repair them as well??” That would be AWESOME.

Again as a DJ I have all my mp3’s organized by Genre.  My rock folder is HUGE.  The biggest pain in my A$$ with the CDDB is when it comes to compilation albums.  I have a CD with 20 tracks all from different artists and when I rip it I have to rip the CD 1 track at a time changing the artist name for each track because if I didn’t the artist name would be “Various Artists”.  (GRRRRRRR)

Some of my earlier mp3s were from napster and though I have the BASIC info, I have NO IDEA what album it came from.  A reverse lookup on the individual track would be great cuz in about 3 clicks, it would be over and I wouldn’t have to type in ANYTHING.

So there is my idea.  Thanks for a GREAT product!(And oh, BTW, I will be shelling out the bucks for it this week.  I have leeched from you long enough).

P.S. Capital letters in my “writing” are not yelling they are inflections in speech. I’m not angry.

Thanks for the clarification (and the praise :)). I will keep your suggestions in mind if I implement a database lookup feature.

No thank YOU for shaving HOURS off my otherwise dull tag fixing experience.
