-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Support and Bug Reports +---Topic: Long path names started by mbnva Posted by: Guest on Dec. 15 2004,12:09 Several of my mp3 files (including the paths) have become longer than 254 characters. While this is a limitation of Windows to an extent, windows can handle longer file names. I need your program to handle the longer filenames/paths. I also need your program to be able to search for any path/filename combination and report it - thus allowing me to take either automatic or manual steps to corerct them. Posted by: Magnus Brading on Dec. 15 2004,12:40 Mp3/Tag Studio should already be able to handle any path that Windows itself handles. Also, exactly what "path/filename combinations" are you talking about that should be reported? Please clarify. Posted by: mbnva on Dec. 15 2004,18:24 With the path/filename combinations - it would be those that exceeded a specific length. If the path is determined by parts of th e tag - then the user should be shown the different parts of the tag, and the length for any paths that exceed a configurable number of characters. This will allow for the identification of problem paths - a major headache for individuals using these technologies. Also - on a sidenote - I am curious as to why musicmatch supertagging is so much better than gracenote cddb. I understand why its better than freedb - because that relys on the track order, and vacinity to other songs. While gracenote, and musicmatch does not... yet gracenote sure falls severly in comparison to musicmatch's supertagging technology. Posted by: Magnus Brading on Dec. 15 2004,21:16 I haven't seen any such auto track recognition technology that I found reliable enough, so I have no idea, sorry.
