+---Topic: Reduce size of Tag started by RunnerBiker

I just discovered mp3ts (V3.5 Beta 17) 3 weeks ago and have been using it to help me with my mp3 collection. Thank you.

Many mp3 files that came from Usenet have "extra" tag fields in them that I wish to remove. Some of these tag fields are:

NCON, PRIV, TXXX, XSOP, TLEN, TMED (and multiple COMM)

The multiple COMM tags are usually put there by MusicMatch.
The TXXX tags usually contain "SIMON WHITEHEAD"
The NCON tags contain binary data and vary in size from aprozimately 13,000 bytes to 21,000 bytes.

Mp3ts allows me to remove these tags - that is a good thing.

Mp3ts does not reduce the size of the tag to the value I set in File => Settings => Tagging Core => Default ID3v2 size (1024)

I realize that all the music data would have to be rewritten to reduce the size of the tag, and I'm willing to accept that.

Is there any way to reduce the size of the tag after deleting an NCON or APIC?

Regards.

Sure, export all remaining tag data to a text file, then remove the tag completely and then import it from the text file again.

You can also create a macro to do this, and have this entire operation/functionality available at the click of a button.

Thanks.

I'll experiment with macros to see if I can make it do what I want.

I think this is the sequence:

1) Remove NCON field (Actually just fills it with 0x00)
2) Export Tags to .\tagdata.txt (overwrite existing file if one exists)
3) Remove ID3V2 Tag
4) Import tag from .\tagdata.txt
end
