-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Support and Bug Reports +---Topic: I/O Error 123 & Error Reading Main Datafile started by Fallout Boy Posted by: Fallout Boy on Nov. 02 2002,13:40 I just downloaded 3.01 this morning - I've been using 2.18 for a really long time, so I decided to register yesterday. So now I'm a registerred user. (Probably the second piece of software I've ever registered - cause it's soo good) So the first thing I try to do is tag some files on another computer on my home network. It's a workgroup and both computers are running XP Pro... when I right-click a folder on the other computer and choose Edit this directory in MP3/Tag Studio... , I get this error: I/O Error 123. |----| | OK | |----| So I hit OK and now MP3/Tag Studio 3.01 is showing in my taskbar, but I can't see the actual window, so I right-click on the taskbar and choose close, which it does... So I think maybe it's the network responding to slowly, so I decide to try editing a folder on my local machine - I right-click on a local folder and choose Edit this directory in MP3/Tag Studio... and I get another error! Error Reading Main Datafile, using defaults! |----| | OK | |----| I tried rebooting and it still does it... I'm thinking of switching back to v2.18... I just tried doing the same thing from the other computer on my network which is using v2.18 and it's throwing the same error on the first task, but when I try to edit a directory on my local machine after trying over the network, I get an error again, but it's the same I/O error 123 as I got when trying to get files over the network. Please advise.. Posted by: Magnus Brading on Nov. 02 2002,14:37 Mp3/Tag Studio does not support unmounted network directories (UNC paths), i.e. directories of the type "\\COMPUTERNAME\RESOURCENAME". If you want to edit files on these, simply mount them as a drive letter in Windows first. Then everything will work just fine. If you get some kind of problem in Mp3/Tag Studio that seems to remain even if you restart the program, simply delete the file "mp3ts.dat" in the Mp3/Tag Studio install directory, and it will go away. end |
