-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Support and Bug Reports +---Topic: Error opening undo file started by robert48124 Posted by: robert48124 on Oct. 28 2011,14:24 every time I try to open mp3 tag studio I get a message Error opening undo file (c:\program files\magnus branding software\mp3-tag studio 3.3\shlext.und)! I click on ok and it works, any ideas? thanks windows 7 32 bit. Thanks in advance Posted by: Magnus Brading on Nov. 01 2011,02:06 Either that file is corrupted (in that case just delete it), or you're running the program from an account with less privileges than the one you used to create that undo file. In the latter case, set the privileges of that file to be writable by all users. Posted by: wolf on Jan. 16 2012,11:39 Hi there, I have the same problem, but only if I start MP3Tag Studio via the context menu. If I start it by means of the Start menu, no error occurs. I have looked for the corrupt file (c:\program files\magnus branding software\mp3-tag studio 3.3\shlext.und) but it doesn't exist on my system. Maybe it cannot be opened because it's missing? (Win7 x86) Reinstalling the software does not change anything! A little bit of help would be apreciated..... Greetz, Wolf Posted by: Magnus Brading on Jan. 17 2012,17:49 Please search for the file (shlext.und) on your entire harddisk, to see if it is somewhere else, and if it is, delete it. Also, please check to see if you have write permissions to the folder mentioned in your error message. Posted by: zip76 on Jan. 21 2012,15:22 hello there, i kind of have the same problem... i get the same message, and after clicking "ok" the window disappears but then nothing happens anymore searched for "shlext.und" on my computer but it's not there also deselected 'read only' in folder settings (which is strange, can't remember i ever set the folder to read only), but no difference strange thing is, that i used to get this message before too, but then after clicking "ok" the program used to start two things that maybe are related (or maybe not, i'm no computer wizard) that also happen lately is that adobe reader crashes after +/- 30 seconds, and that I recently switched of the permanent indexing in windows (for the search function) my pc runs on vista, hope someone can help me out! cheers Posted by: Magnus Brading on Jan. 23 2012,16:17 Strange that the problem persists even though you set the folder to writable. Try to create an empty file with that name ("shlext.und") in the Mp3/Ta g Studio folder, and make sure that it is writable, and see what happens then? Posted by: zip76 on Jan. 23 2012,23:08 well, i just did that the good thing is.. the error message is gone the bad thing though.. it still doesn't start up :-( Posted by: Magnus Brading on Jan. 24 2012,00:13 Are you using the most recent Mp3/Tag Studio 3.5 beta? Please state your exact version. Posted by: zip76 on Jan. 28 2012,12:23 Not sure how to check the version, but I guess it's this one: mp3ts35b22, that's the most recent zip in my download folder.. Posted by: Magnus Brading on Jan. 29 2012,22:59 Ok, very strange (btw, you can see the version in the Windows title of the program, or in the "About box" (available from the help menu)). Did you try to start it with administrative privileges (i.e. logged in as an administrator)? Any difference there? Posted by: zip76 on Jan. 30 2012,21:02 i cannot open the program at all, all i get is this vista 'hourglass' thing, that spins for a while and then stops without the program showing up also tried to run it as an administrator but with same result i can't check the version in the program because it doesn't show up at all, but i checked the readme in the program folder and it says "Mp3/Tag Studio 3.5 (beta 22)" hope you can help me, i'd really appreciate it! Posted by: Magnus Brading on Jan. 31 2012,00:12 I must say it sounds very strange, and that I never heard about such a problem before. Not sure what to do actually. ![]() Posted by: zip76 on Jan. 31 2012,21:55 hmmmmmmmm, i was kind of fearing that =( i just discovered that it actually runs according to the task manager, maybe that helps in finding out what's wrong? Posted by: zip76 on Feb. 04 2012,21:57 now i have some new information which might hopefully help solving the problem ![]() i removed the program and reinstalled (just) this version "Mp3/Tag Studio 3.05, unlimited trial version with banner (4.1 MB)" now it crashes "officially" from the start, displaying the following information: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: mp3tag_s.exe Application Version: 0.0.0.0 Application Timestamp: 2a425e19 Fault Module Name: StackHash_7dc0 Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 00000000 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 7ffd7000 OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1043 Additional Information 1: 7dc0 Additional Information 2: b4ee5de6a2322745523997a782b35692 Does this give any insight? Posted by: ABundy on Feb. 06 2012,23:24 Problem seems to be, what Magnus stated in his posts (access rights). Grant "Full access" to the logged-in User for the program file folder of mp3ts. Set compatibility mode for the exe to Win XP SP2 Worked for me (Win7 pro /32), hope this helps BTW: Avoid Vista, downgrade to XP or upgrade to 7.... Posted by: Magnus Brading on Feb. 14 2012,17:22 Again, version 3.05 is not compatible with Vista or later at all, you must use the most recent 3.5 beta instead. Posted by: nikkil on Jan. 05 2013,20:16 Just a quick one. Is there a version already out that's compatible with Windows 8? Posted by: jdantas on Jan. 29 2013,03:27 Same problem here, with Windows 8 64 and Mp3 Tag studio 3.5 beta 22, until now. Changing permissions of directory solved the problem. Working ok now. ![]() end |
