A lot of my mp3 filenames begin with the 2 following characters  --
How can i find and delete these using Mp3 tag studio?

I posted a big list of instructions, but I'm not sure that they were correct. The simple answer is: if your tags are correct (they do not include the 2 dashes) the use the 'Auto rename (from tags)' tool.

To make sure that you're only processing the files whose names start with the 2 dashes, you could use the filter tool like this:

Check the 'Use filtering' checkbox, then click the 'Setup' button to its right.
In the resulting 'MP3 filter setup' window, select the 'File name' tab, check the 'Filter filename' checkbox and the 'Advanced' checkbox.
Paste this into the textbox to the right:
§--
then click the 'OK' button at the bottom.

If anyone's interested, here follows a solution that's a bit more clean, and not dependent on correct tags ;):

1.
Go to the "Direct rename files" tool.

2.
Fill in the following templates (advanced mode):

Expected format:

---------------------CODE SAMPLE-------------------
--<Custom1>.mp3
---------------------CODE SAMPLE-------------------

Output format:

---------------------CODE SAMPLE-------------------
<Custom1>.mp3
---------------------CODE SAMPLE-------------------

3.
Press Execute.

This will remove the "--" prefix from all filenames having it, and leave the rest as they are.

Estimated total time: 5 seconds. ;)
