-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Support and Bug Reports +---Topic: What causes v1 and v2 to be unsynchronized? started by Jason Posted by: Jason on Oct. 28 2008,05:45 This happens to me rather frequently, so I thought I'd go ahead and ask about it. I typically use EAC and Lame to rip my albums to 128 kbps VBR MP3. I use CDDB data initially, but always open files up in MP3TS to clean and correct ID3 data. Oftentimes with longer album or song titles I notice when Browsing that I have unsynchronized V1 and V2 tags. When I click the V1 or V2 button it's generally that the V1 tag is truncated. This happens not just with tags created in EAC/Lame, but also with Mass Set Tags data from within MP3TS. When I used Direct Tag Manipulation to set Title_v2 --> Title_v1 nothing changed. But if I go into browse mode, click on the V2 button to see the full tag, and then erase and retype the last character and hit ENTER to write the changes, then all's fine with the tag and they are in sync. Is this normal? Why would the tags be out of sync in the fist place if there is clearly room in the tag for the full album or track title? Finally, it appears that if I use Direct Tag Manipulation to set Title_v2 --> Title then it gets them in sync. Sorry if this is confusing, but hopefully it makes sense. --Jason Posted by: Magnus Brading on Oct. 30 2008,11:56 My guess would be that the ID3v1 tag field(s) in question are not truncated at the maximum length (maybe at a word boundary, or adding "..." at the end etc). The tags are only considered to be synced if all over-length fields are truncated at the maximum length position. end |
