Hey
Love this software, it's so easy to use but I have come across a wee problem. When I try to play some of the mp3s in windows media 10 i get the old "the file you are trying to play has file extension different from that of the file..." message (or something to that effect, I'm sure you know the one I mean...) It doesn't happen with all of the mp3s I've tagged with this software just some of them (when I say some I talking about a 100 or so files!!
My problem is that I'm just learning the mp3 'thing right now so my description of errors isn't exactly the best. 
Any ideas how I can put it right?

It sounds to me that you have tried to rename some files that are not originally of the mp3 format to have an mp3 name (i.e. ending in ".mp3"). These files are most likely of some other sound format, like e.g. wma, ape, ogg, or something like that.
If you send me one of the files I can verify it for you if you like.

That's what I'd thought I'd done until I'd checked last night and it seems that if I remove the tags from the affected mp3s they will play again !! So all is not lost.
Admittedly some of the affected files were wma so I'm a stupid fool for not checking what I'm changing. However I'm still confused as to how adding a tag to a mp3 can render it useless.

An mp3 file should not be broken when adding a tag, unless it has previous corruption that gets too much for the player in combination with the tag for some reason.
But a wma file is not an mp3 file, and if the file has got a tag that does not match its sound data format, the player might get confused and unwilling to play the file, even if no sound data is really lost or corrupted. Like you say, just remove the tag and the file is restored fully to its previous state.
If you still believe that some of the non-playing files are really mp3 files, my offer still stands to analyze such a file if you just send it to me.
