I absolutely love MP3 Tag Studio.  I'm your biggest fan Magnus.  However, is there anything I can do to help speed up Vista 64 support.  I love Vista 64 but I can't let go of your program.  I have tried every other tagging program out there, and I keep coming back to your software.  Is there anyway you can actively develop and improve MP3 Tag Studio?  I recall you saying some time ago that you don't have Vista to test it on.  Is the lack of development due to financial resources or lack of time?  Nobody makes a better tagging program than you, and I just want to see it live on in future additions of Windows.

Doesn't everything work in Vista 64 except the shell extension? And the reason is lack of time, yes. :ashamed:

Hi Magnus - i've been using your program for many years now, and have been real happy with it for its flexibillity and for letting me 'mold' it to fit my needs. But now that i have upgraded my system to vista business 64-bit, i realize how much (almost exclusively) i used the shell-extension method of opening the program - with the right folder in focus and ready to edit. Having to actually start the program (outside of explorer) and clickityclick to the right disk, to the right folder, to the right subfolder etc etc takes so much more time and work before i can finally do what i want to do (= edit/correct tags and file names) that i've almost reached the point of 'ahh, forget it!'. I also loved to be able to edit tags and file names 'on the fly' in explorer - so the fact that 'only' the shell-extensions don't work is not a minor case to me; for me it's one of the program's  main features! So please, reconsider this problem. And if it's really time that's keeping you from working on it, then please consider some outside help - there's a big users-community (professionals included) out there that's devoted to your wonderful program! Please don't make us 'look elsewhere' . . .
greetings and thanks,
Adriaan (NL)
PS i can't access the help-file either (which i really need for complicated actions), nor the 'about' box for a quick check for updates.

If you only want to use the shell extension to start Mp3/Tag Studio with a given file or folder selected, there's a simple solution:

1.
Use the following Microsoft tool to be able to view the Mp3/Tag Studio help file even if you have a newer Windows like Vista or 7:

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=82148

2.
View the section of the help file called "Command-line parameters in GUI-mode" (from the index), there you will find the command-line parameters that the shell extension use to start Mp3/Tag Studio.

Here's a copy of the relevant parts too:

Quote
-sxd<path to directory>
Opens Mp3/Tag Studio with the given directory set as working directory. Note that there is no space between "-sxd" and the path.

Example command-line:
"C:\Program Files/Mp3TS/mp3tag_s.exe" "-sxdC:\MyMp3Folder"

-sxf<path to mp3 file>
Opens Mp3/Tag Studio with the given file selected in the browse/edit tool. Note that there is no space between "-sxf" and the path.

Example command-line:
"C:\Program Files/Mp3TS/mp3tag_s.exe" "-sxfC:\MyMp3Folder\MyMp3File.mp3"

Use any free tool to add custom shell extension entries (there should be a bunch), and link them to these command-lines, and you're done.
