+---Topic: help with shortcut properties to stop flicker started by basslover

Hello,

I have that flicker problem and the FAQ said "Please start the program with the command-line parameter "-noresize" (edit the properties of the shortcut icon used to start the program), this will make the flickering go away. "

I am in XP, and I don't seem to be able to tell where to put that parameter in the shortcut properties.  could someone please guide me after I right-click "Properties" on the shortcut icon?

Thanks!

You should enter it after the path of the program executable (i.e. in the text box that contains the path to the executable). This text box is named "Target" in the "Shortcut" tab of the property sheet in the english version of Windows XP.

After entering it correctly, the contents of the textbox should look something like this:

---------------------CODE SAMPLE-------------------
"c:\program files\mp3ts\mp3tag_s.exe" -noresize
---------------------CODE SAMPLE-------------------

Thanks for the quick reply.

I modified the shortcut, but it still flickers.

Actually, when the desktop is visible, it looks like the desktop icons refresh three or four times until the program becomes visible.

I assume this isn't harming my system, so if it isn't, it's not a big deal this flickering or refreshing.

But if there's another way to try to stop it, I'm willing to try.

PS: I read about the large icons, but I need them, so changing that wouldn't be an option.

Thanks.

Is this "desktop refresh flicker" startup flicker the only flicker you are referring to? This is not what is meant with the flicker in the help, it's a completely different thing. :)

This is completely harmless, I can assure you that, and if that's the only issue, I recommend that you remove the "-noresize" switch again.
