+---Topic: How do you deal with artist names with dash? started by killabee44

Hi all,

How do you handle direct renaming when you have artist names like:

Jay-z
e-40
q-tip
ne-yo
t-pain

since tagstudio thinks that the "-" in the artist name is the separator between the track name and the artist. So, the song is renamed incorrectly.

Thanks for any input.

That is why I always use " - " as a field separator, which is also the Mp3/Tag Studio default.  :)

I also do, but when you are trying to clean up a hundred tracks and there are no spaces before or after the "-", then track names such as the ones I mentioned become a problem.

Is there anything I can do about this?

You could automatically move these files to another directory by using the direct rename tool with a template containing the extra dash (all files not having it should be non-matched), and then quickly process them there with a special template containing this extra dash for the artist, and then move them back. You could even create a macro for this whole process.
