-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Support and Bug Reports +---Topic: Can't see id3v2 tag after adding aditional frame started by Elvis Posted by: Elvis on May 03 2005,17:53 I'm using mp3ts for many years and it's very helpfull and great software. Now I just started to use WinLyrics plugin for winamp. This plugin add lyrics into mp3 file as id3v2 additional frame with UNICODE support. After this I can't see in mp3ts id3v2 tag, but in winamp can see it. In this case when I made direct tag manipulation in mp3ts, then i choose v1 -> v2 conversion, mp3ts destroy partly or fully id3v2 winlyrics additional frame. Posted by: Magnus Brading on May 04 2005,15:37 Hi Elvis. This sounds like a possible case of non-standard complience from the software writing those tags. Please send me a sample of such a file, both before and after it has been "destroyed" by the lyrics data, and I will take a look at it. Posted by: Magnus Brading on May 06 2005,17:35 Thanks for the sample files. The problem seems to be that your other lyrics program does not support the "unsynchronization" feature of the ID3v2 standard (neither reading or writing of it), and hence it cannot read the standard compliant tags written by Mp3/Tag Studio, and it also writes non-standard-complying tags to the files it processes (which Mp3/Tag Studio still can read and process though). Please contact the vendor of this other program, and ask them to comply to the ID3v2 stand (in this case especially the "unsynchronization" faeture of it). Thanks. Posted by: Elvis on May 18 2005,16:38 Hi, I thoght about this problem and tried to use tag&raname software for editing id3v2 tag with winlyrics and there were no problems. So I tried to save winlyrics without UNICODE support and then your mp3ts had no problem with winlyrics. So I think that problem is, that your mp3ts doesn't support UNICODE. And It would be ice if your mp3ts can read lyrics tags. :-) Posted by: Magnus Brading on May 19 2005,10:21 The Unicode does most likely only indirectly affect the data sequences that incur the need for unsynchronization in the first place, hence turning it off is only a workaround for the other problem in your third-party software. Mp3/Tag Studio supports Unicode tags indeed. And it might be that Tag&Rename doesn't support unsynchronization either that makes it work when you use that software, also just a workaround for the other software not handling it correctly. end |
