I'll have to second (third?) this suggestion. This would be a really useful feature for getting all those "year"-tags right. Year-tags are the most common ones that are missing from files copied from friends. All other info is usually correct, or retrieveable from folder or file names.
I have to agree that Gracenote database is not perfect, and I personally would not trust it for tagging artist, title or album, but the year-tag is different. To most people it is not very critical information, but a "nice to have", and a close guess is better than no information at all.
Currently my personal work flow is: 1. Copy some new albums from friends 2. Make a duplicate of the copied set 3. Retrieve tag info with Winamp Auto-Tagger to the duplicate 4. Create tags to original with mp3ts based on file/folder names 5. Run a little self-made utility that simply copies the year-tag from the duplicate set to the original set in each corresponding file.
