+---Topic: Mass Removing Extended Frames started by Mousum

I have at least 10,000 mp3s that have music match bio embedded as COMM frames. I don't see any way to add this field in the "mass remove tag" tab. similarly I want to remove Tagging Time. But that isn't either present in the mass remove. I know magnus, u can do magic. So, how do I do this?

Also relative volume adjustment (Not RVAD) RVAD2. I know of "Clear all additional ID3v2 fields". But there are other fields I want to keep, so can't use it

The last time I posted was 2 years ago, and u helped me out. Counting on you this time also.

Best Regards

MusicMatch's bad habit of storing everything in a bunch of COMM-frames (i.e. using their own standard on top of the ID3v2 standard) is problematic, and not supported by Mp3/Tag Studio.  :(

The other frames you mention are ID3v2.4 frames, and that's the reason they are not appearing directly in the interface.

For these situations, we have the old trick of exporting all important tag fields to a text file list, then removing the entire tag. and then re-importing the list again. It can be made into a macro too.

Use the Create Custom List.  In the upper right corner is a legend reading "Active tool set".  The button below it switches you between to sets of tabs.  You want the "File tools ..." tabs.  The right hand tab is "Create Custom Lists".  You specify a list of tags, plus a form of file name (which you use depends on whether you want to just process one directory or a whole directory tree), together with a separator string (use a character that doesn't occur in any of the tags or filenames, such as § or ¶).  You also specify a file name and location for the list.  You can use the "Advanced mode" option to insert V2 tag names, using the right mouse button to get a dropdown menu for them, or just hand-typing them in.  Remember, advanced mode you have to hand-type the separators.

Once you have such a list you can go back to the "Name and tag tools" tool set and us "Mass cleanup tags" to get rid of everything, and then "Tag/rename from list" to put the saved values back.  It pays to save the pattern you used in the "Create Custom List" tool to use here, but note that you will have to fix up the file name entry, as the two tools use somewhat different formats.  Play with these on some simple cases to learn what has to be changed.

Good luck.
