-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Support and Bug Reports +---Topic: 'Comment' field is not getting synched properly started by rohangc Posted by: rohangc on April 21 2004,08:21 Hi, I have used MP3TS for all eternity. In fact, it was the first utility that I ever used to manage my MP3s and I have never used anything else. However, there is one thing I would like to point out now. If I have something entered in the 'Comment' field of the ID3v1 tag and I manipulate a bunch of MP3s using MP3TS (for example, set the 'Artist' to say 'Iron Maiden' of the ID3v1 tags only); the comment field of the ID3v2 tag gets filled with the contents of the v1 'comment' field. Now, there are instances when I don't want this to happen. This happens even if the "synch v1 and v2 tags" option is turned OFF. All other fields behave normally except the 'comment' field. Is this normal? I don't think it is. Please let me know what you think. Thanks. Posted by: Magnus Brading on April 21 2004,14:20 Hmm, sounds strange, could you give me a sample file and a instructions on how to reproduce it? Will it behave this way even if you use the browse tool with the explicit "v1" setting? Posted by: rohangc on April 22 2004,04:39 Hi. You can reproduce the error on any mp3 file. Take a bunch of mp3s, put something in the v1 comment field. Do ANY kind of tag manipulation on them. You will see that the v2 tag gets automatically filled up with the contents of v1. This happpens even with the v1 setings. Try it yourself. If it behaves normally, I will provide a sample mp3. I have experienced this problem on about 4000 mp3s. So, reproducing the condition shouldn't be a problem. Thanks. Posted by: Magnus Brading on April 22 2004,22:13 I just tried to write to the v1 comment field in the browse tool, both to a file that only contained a v1 tag, and to a file that contained both tags, and in both cases only the v1 comment field was affected, just like I had instructed it to? Please give more detailed instructions about how to reproduce the problem, and maybe also a sample file if necessary (you can create a really small sample mp3 file with the trim tool, and upload it here directly in the forum with your post if you like). end |
