Thanks in advance. Posted by: Magnus Brading on Mar. 09 2004,23:44 This file is automatically created for the installation package. Normally it is stored by the operating system until the program is uninstalled. If it is missing in your computer something else must have deleted it. Anyway, just delete the Bookmark Converter install directory and the start menu icons to manually remove the program. Posted by: Dan_Pettus on Mar. 12 2004,00:03 When trying to unistall and reinstall, I got the same error with 3.1. Seems the msi file gets placed in a temp directory upon install. I periodically clean out my temp files, so now I can't uninstall. This may be your problem. I've done what Magnus suggests and simply removed the folder and shortcuts. My problem now is that when I try to re-install BMC, it complains that BMC is still installed! Now i can neither uninstall completely or re-install from scratch. Any ideas anyone? Posted by: Magnus Brading on Mar. 12 2004,00:37 Ok, here's a tip for advanced users, which might fix this problem (a general tip for non-advanced users, or any users for that matter, would instead be to not delete unidentified files in the temp-directory ![]() 1. Open the following registry key in regedit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall 2. Open the "Find" tool, and search for values containing "Bookmark Converter". 3. When such a value is found, delete the entire key that this value resides in. It should have a name like for example: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{AFCA54B4-9C7B-4B5D-AE00-7318BD270A9A} 4. Now try if you can install Bookmark Converter again (a reboot might be required inbetween). Once again, I DO NOT take any responsibility if you do this wrong and mess up your registry! Messing with the registry is potentially very dangerous for the computer, and should only be done by advanced users! Do it on your own risk and backup the registry key before you delete it! Posted by: Dan_Pettus on Mar. 26 2004,17:28 Thanks. After export my registry, just in case, I searched for and removed any keys in the registry containing the value "Bookmark Converter". After doing so, I was able to re-install the application. end |
