I downloaded the upgrade and paid for it. When I launch setup, I get the message 'The configuration data for this product id corrupt. Contact your support personnel'.

I have used version 2.91 with no problems.

This indicates that there are some problems with the Windows Installer in your computer (and hence not in the BMC install file itself).

Was this the beta 3 install package (filename bmc30b3.zip)?

Have you tried to install it on another computer?

If you had any earlier versions of Bookmark Converter previously installed, did you uninstall them first?

Has anyone else here experienced similar problems?

Anyway, mail me and I will help you get it running manually in the worst case, no problem.

Yes, the file is bmc30b3.zip. I have removed the previous version and then rebooted, but the same error message comes up. I have also installed several more programs today with no problem so I wonder why you would think the Windows Installer is at fault. Anyway, I would appreciate suggestions on how to install the new version. Thanks.

The Windows Installer is a complex system that can lock up and fail in many ways, so just because some other programs can be installed, it doesn't mean that it is fully working (also, only some installers use the Windows Installer at all for that matter). In that error message, it was mentioned that it had a problem with the specific ID for this package. It can very well have corrupted data linked to this ID in its database.

Since not a single other user out of the thousands of people who have downloaded it so far have had any similar problems, I find it most plausible that the problem is local.

But, as I said, I can fix it for you if you would only mail me privately.
