Mp3 files do not use different codecs, but I assume you are referring to the name of the encoder software used to create the particular mp3 file?
This detection is not explicitly included in the mp3 file (except by certain encoders, e.g. LAME), and hence such a detection is only probabilistic, and I don't like to display data which is not certain. Many of those other programs that claim to do this often report the wrong encoder, and a wrong indication is worse than no indication at all I think.
