Tag Studio 3.05 output files have idiosyncrasy:
I have used Tag Studio for years and even paid for it because I like it so well.  However, I have discovered that my Neo Car Jukebox using Open Neo firmware has a problem with your output files.  (The Neo Jukebox is a harddrive based box that plays thru one's head unit's input.)  The neo box will not always go flawlessly to the next song in a playlist, especially when playing a song with a density higher than 192.  Now I am not even implying that Studio is to blame, but when I simply copy my MP3s from one folder to another using Windows xp pro the Neo works flawlessly upon those files and operates much more quickly on the copied mp3s. It looks like Windows closes or writes the files differently from Studio and the Neo code burps on that difference. Your output mp3 files work fine with any other mp3 player PC based or other player.

Any ideas on what that might be so I can request the Open Neo project to fix their code?

Thanks, Bill

Maybe that player of yours does not support ID3v2 tags at all, but only ID3v1 tags? That's the best guess I can come up with off the top of my head anyway...

In any case, Mp3/Tag Studio is on the contrary normally even recommended by vendors of hardware players with picky firmware, because it produces such standard-complying tags. Also, if the problem seems to be related to the bitrate of the mp3 files, it seems really unlikely to have anything to do with Mp3/Tag Studio, since the bitrate of files is completely irrelevant to how Mp3/Tag Studio treats them.

If you come up with anything more about what's causing your problem, I'm sure that other owners of that player would be interested in hearing about it, so feel free to post about it in this thread in that case anyway.

Neo supports ID3v2 &v1 OK.  My theory is that the device becomes CPU bound decoding the more dense MP3s that have been stored by Studio.  Neo plays the mp3 OK, it is just reluctant to skip to the next song in a playlist while playing a dense song.  All NEO control functions speeded up also when using Windows copied mp3 files.

FYI: In this case I use Studio to put the songs in folders Genre-Artist_Album-TrkNo-Title via a USB 2.0 connection to my Windows computer.  I keep them artist-album-trkNo-title for my AudioTron hooked to my stereo system.  The AudioTron hooks to my PC via an eternet connection.  That all works fine.

I thought maybe it had something to do with using the plug and play USB that is not closing correctly.  But I explicitly shut it down before disconnecting.

I know the problem is in the code of the Open Neo project because it worked with their legacy firmware.  I have not been able to convince the programmer of it though.  I was just hoping you might think of something.

Thanks, Bill

Ok, I wish you good luck in finding the problem. And as I said before, please feel free to report the solution here if you ever find it, for other Neo users' delight.
