+---Topic: FLAC support for MP3/Tag Studio started by MusicTrax

Looking back on your forum, there have been quite a few requests over the last three or four years for you to include Ogg Vorbis tag support for FLAC files. While you said at the time that it might be considered for the future, it's now the summer of 2007 and nothing has happened.

I've looked at a dozen different MP3-tagging programs, and it's clear to me that MP3/Tag Studio beats them all for features. But the lack of FLAC support is disappointing.

Given that there are three or four tagging programs that can handle both Ogg Vorbis-type tags and MP3 tags -- in a single program -- it's clear to me that it can be done. So the question is: will you ever do it, and if so, when?

At the current adoption level of the FLAC format (sure, maybe many in numbers, but microscopic in user share) I sadly cannot motivate the development effort for this, sorry. :(

Of course it would be possible though, I never implied anything else. Anything is possible, given enough resources.

Oh wow - this is not good news.  :(  I was really hoping that we could get support for the FLAC and/or APE lossless formats.  With the ever expanding size and decreasing cost of hard drives, lossless is the way to go.  5 years ago, I never thought that I'd have the 1.2 TB RAID5 array that I have today, with the sole purpose of having a fault-tolerant repository for music files..  There are also more and more lossless files on USENET (lossless newsgroups do exist) and in BitTorrent shares - check out Demonoid, they have an entire category for lossless formatted files.  MP3s have been around for quite some time, but for audiophiles who really love quality music and this quality program, it has been VERY difficult to find a tag editor that measures up to M/TS and that supports FLAC and APE files.  If there is any way to get support for FLAC files, you'd make quite a few registered users like myself very happy and most likely encourage many, many more of those who have trial versions of M/TS to register this awesome piece of code.

Thank you for such a great program and your time.

Thanks for your input. It might be implemented in a future version, I just cannot promise anything.

More than 2 years later...flac is really needed if you want your software to keep being a success as more and more people start to download flac instead of mp3. ;)

It's 2012. Still no support for FLAC? :(

Hi Magnus,
I was wondering if you still had time left to work on this "hobby project".
As mentionned already in the forum, FLAC or any lossless compression method is the way to go now to have a safe copy of our possible hundreds of CDs. And of course, FLAC tagging is needed. So I cast my vote to the others +1 again < http://www.magnusbrading.com/iB_html....n14.gif >

I find it a pain to have to use other programs to do just that !

Anyway, continue the very good job, when you have time...

Hi Yves, have you found any work around in doing this yet?
