Hey

It would appear that Mp3-Tag Studio v3.5 (beta 17) has an expiry date and cannot continue as of today.

I was advised to update to the latest version from this website but it has not changed since I last downloaded.

Any word on a new version (latest was April 14 2006) as the older version 3.05 (which works OK) is quite buggy with long filenames and Track Nos.

Cheers

I guess this is an inherent risk with expiry-dated software. If you do not get the new version ready before the expiry date, then suddenly no one can use the program.
Does anyone have an older version that still works?

The most logical thing for you to do right now would probably be to download the program and try it yourself (totally uncrippled and non-time limited shareware!;).

This is the hook in the software main window for which I decided to downloaded version 3.5. Even so I asked if this version were reliable enough as to replace my old but faithful v3.05 and I was answered yes. I installed v3.5 and it worked fine until today when the expiry banner showed up.

What's going on guys? Why you promise something and then don't fulfill it?

Likewise.
Would really appreciate a patch or update to remove/extend the beta-expiry.

Thanks!

First of all, the beta will still work as usual for all registered users, it will never expire for them.

But for all of you who still happen to be in your 30 day evaluation period before either deciding to purchase the program or stop using it :p a new patch will be released very soon, possibly tonight. It will contain experimental Vista support too.

Also note that this is a beta version, and the last release version (3.05) is still available for download in the download section of this site, and will never expire (only beta versions have expiry dates).

Anyway, the reason for why the new beta version was not released yet as planned was that I was completely screwed over by another company that creates an external module that I use. They refused to let me download the latest version of it because they apparently decided to "change their business model" from the lifetime updates license that I actually paid them for, to a per-year subscription where I have to pay each year for all new updates. If they weren't located in Russia I'd sue them indeed... So, if anyone ever comes across the product "Asprotect", don't ever purchase it, they just take your money and then don't give you what they promised. :(

Ok, new version is released now, go ahead and download.

Please try it out on Windows Vista too, to see if it works there.

i guess the only reason people are perplexed is because the download page doesn't indicate that the beta has an expiry at all. only the 3.05 bannerless version says it has one. :p

in any case, i'm downloading the new beta because i have come to depend on it for my MP3 tagging needs ... thanks so much for making such a wonderful and efficient tool.  :D
